Well I can tell you that out of all the people on my friends list only two of them are not people that I know in the real world. Of those two, one I have been gaming with for over four years and the other about a year. It's been my experience that while playing online and meeting new people I've added and remove a lot of them from my friends list mostly because after a while people become assholes. Now, I'll be the first to admit it could be me, because I am not a child. I am an older game and I do not find things like greifing, hacking, cheating and mods to be fun or even remotely funny. Ruining other peoples fun as a form of entertainment for yourself or your asshole friends to watch in the background and laugh is just shity. Myself and people I play with also don't live and die by our K/D either. Getting a kill on someone and then telling them how we're going to sleep with their mother or calling them some childish name is not the type of players we are nor is it the type of players we like associate with. Have I ever talked shit online, sure we all have. However there is something just wrong with the world when a nine year old child tells me he/she is going "-blam!- my mom in the ass". Sure you can meet some good people online, I'm not saying it impossible. I for one totally get why Bungie did what they did. Spend 30 seconds reading the forums and you will see people can be really immature when they have the safety of a keyboard or a headset. I do think however proxy chat should have been in the game as an option but by default set to off. If you want it then you can go and turn it on.

Edited by CeIestial Demon: 9/3/2014 12:06:23 AMare u serious? did you play halo 2 when it came out? almost all of my 50-70 friends i have on mine are from halo 2-3- and reach.. didnt make much during halo 4 maybe 2-3 but i only have 2 people that i know irl on my friends list and actually made 3 friends that live a few states away that ive met in person all because of chat in halo2 and we have been friends longer than ive known my wife or his wife lol we talked about all the shit going on in our lives and everything, just a long distance friendship, us 4 were really good in team too because of the connection we had with one another, but yea i consider them my best friends now.. and to think id have never met them had i not had the opportunity to talk in game in halo2 is crazy

same, im a 44 yo ex soldier from a family of soldiers, everyone on my fl I know irl and we stay in party chat, I found myself hearing big talk from little fools who wouldn't even make eye contact with me if we were face to face

It was a family profession really, some people farm, some run businesses, some soldier, went to hs in fay nc, thats ft bragg, all of my friends dads were in, we all just went in, some towns are steel towns some are mining towns etc.its what kids in mil towns do

I used to work for a school where we trained dogs for the visually impaired but also for soldiers with PTSD. It was the most rewarding experience of my life. The school was fantastic to the students and dogs but horrible to it's employees so sadly I had moved on. I miss it everyday but I always take the opportunity to thank you men and women whenever get the chance.

As long as it can be turned off or more to to the point is by default is off I'm fine with it. Bungie tweeted out today that there will be something about the social part of the game in this weeks update on Friday. I guess we will just wait and see.

Don't know how old is older gamer but I'm in my mid twenties and don't do much online unless it's people I know or a few that I've come across that share my distain for trollers and griefers. Don't know what system either of you will be gaming on. But I hope to run into you both eventually or gentlemen like you who share the opinion about trouble makers inside the online gaming community. And I understand what you're saying Apocacide about the military family but still thank you for your service.
