But Half-Life is the greatest single-player game of all time
And I'm a hardcore console player. Only use PC for underpowered exclusives or '90s classics.

/Opinion. Every person has a favorite game of all time, that does not however, make it fact. For example, my favorite is Majora's Mask, but if we're going by purely review scores then its technically Super Mario Galaxy, followed very closely by Ocarina of Time, then Super Mario Galaxy 2 in 3rd.
-
Wut. OoT is still the highest rated game of all time. It has a 99 on Metacritic. No other game has a 99. There are plenty of games with 98s though.
-
Gamrankings has Galaxy as the highest. The issue is that different reviews are collected by metacritic and Gamerankings.
-
Guinness World Records has OoT as the highest. I'll go with that. ;)
-
I'm going to assume 2014 edition? Either way, it doesn't matter to me which is highest, it still proves my point that technically from an objective standpoint Half-Life is not the greatest game of all time. And that Nintendo is awesome, but that is beside the point.
-
It's high up there, as far as reviews go. Along with the Likes of RDR, TLOU, UC2, and many others. It won some "Game of the Decade" awards too. Didn't really know those were a thing though...
-
I never said it was a bad game, its just not the greatest.
-
I never said you said it was. IMO, it is one of the greatest though. OoT is still my all time favorite though.
-
I know you didn't, just re-stating my point towards the OP. I can respect that, my personal favorite is still Majora's Mask, but that's because I prefer the more personal story of Majora's Mask over the more epic story of Ocarina of Time.
-
I liked MM. The time thing annoyed me though.
-
The time limit was actually one of my favorite parts of the game. I enjoyed the pressure that it put on you.
-
So I've heard.
-
There is nothing special about half life.
-
Lolz. Sublimely designed environments fusing form, function, narrative, gameplay and art, a compelling plot, cool-arse story and sweet weapons beg to differ.
-
I use those exact same words to describe halo, gears of war, The last of us, Deus ex, and maybe even call of duty. Ok maybe not call of duty. Half life isn't bad but it's also but the greatest game ever.
-
Which games specifically? I'm talking about Half-Life 1. All of those series have their ups ad downs. But HL1 bests them all for single-player. Even Halo: CE.
-
Fight me IRL.
lol jk
-
Wrong. Ocarina of Time and you know it
-
Haven't played it. If ever I get a 3DS, though, I will.
-
Well it's a 90's classic. Or it could have been made in the early 2000's.... Idk but You could easily emulate it or plan on an N64 if you have one. Either way it will be one of the greatest gaming experiences of your life.
-
It is the most critically acclaimed game ever, so I'm sure I would enjoy it a lot. I wonder if it relies on knowledge of previous titles at all. Aren't all Zeldas standalone titles, narratively-speaking?
-
Yes... No one else answered. I just finished Link to the Past/Between Worlds, the only connection they had were paintings of the previous events, and the same worlds. Besides OoT Link is a different Link than the others.
-
Yah. Rumour has it that they're all meant to be multiple realities within an omniverse.
-
Some are in the same universe, like both the Link to/Link Between games. But each game you start of as a different Link, no one Link is the same.

Edited by Tartan 118: 9/3/2014 11:58:21 AMIn theory, the games... all games, are historical. If the omniverse/multiverse theory is real. TFW Silent Hills is real.
