Many reptiles do undergo drastic changes to their bone structure as they grow. It's why archeologists thought there were way more dinosaurs than there actually were.

the reason the hunter's ahamkara's skull is smaller is because it is a young ahamkara skull and spine not a more mature looking skull like the warlocks have.
