It was in no way implied that ships were flyable you just read way too much into that quote.

Even mentioning something so much by default imlies they are far more than cut scenes. After all, why mention it at all if they are only for cut scenes. The fact that so many people thought that ships were flyable, only illustrates how they made it look, all be it intentional or not.

But just showing them off doesn't imply that they're flyable. To me it was obvious that they showed them off as a cosmetic item ever since E3 2013.

Why 'show off' and talk so much about the ships in the first place, when they are not in the game and merely for cut scenes? Wether it was intentional or not, or whether you accept it or not, it WAS suggestive that ships at least played a bigger in the game than what they ultimately do.
