Depends what timezone you are in? If you notice, it says it won't be playable until 3:01AM Eastern time, which is also 2:00AM for people in central time. Anyone not on the west coast kinda get screwed out of playing for 2-3 hours. What the heck, bungie??? I thought the point of pre-downloading a game was to NOT have to wait 2 hours for it to install and update :\

You have to be online to play the game. It would be pretty easy to see which server you're trying to access and know it doesn't match your timezone. After all, if stores illegally sell the game before midnight, people wouldn't be able to log on for the same reason. Shouldn't the game go online in each timezone right when the servers do?

I don't think the servers are discriminating like that. From what @bungie said in Twitter, once its 9.9.14 somewhere in the world, their servers are live everywhere.

Sorry for badly wording that. All I meant is that there is not much difference between trying to change your timezone or somehow getting a hold of a retail copy early. Either way, it's detectable/preventable. If I can walk into a gamestop and pick up a copy at exactly midnight, it doesn't make much sense why they would deny the same privellege to people buying the game online?
