You're right to point out that there's a lot of misconceptions about what feminism is. A lot of its detractors try to paint a stereotype of some angry, ugly bra-burning man-hater of a woman who sues helpless men who are just minding their own business. A lot of that is in the eye of the beholder, and if that's all you're looking for, that's all you'll see. Unfortunately, a lot of feminism by its very nature challenges the way we think about the world we live in. You have to look at the REALLY big picture in order to understand it, and it's easy to reject an ideology when you detect it as being too contrary to your own.

I call these types of "Feminists" Social Justice Warriors. People that are lost causes and only see what they want to see and fail to see the reality of what issues they claim to know to "fix".
