Good point. I like how you support you position with an example. My thought on it is, this equipment will always cover your metaphorical or at least be a decent alternative with no boosts or drains. Of course you will eventually find better and use it instead, but when you level up two will the replacement still work for you? or would it be on the low end of equipment stats? Have you found a new replacement yet? With this idea you would always have a backup in order to keep up. You know what I mean?

I do like the idea and pre order weapons are pretty lame most of the time... I had the borderlands 2 golden gearbox weapons and they lasted me 5mins before I had better loot (hornet legendary of Knuckledragger) really seemed pointless to even have them...
