Edited by martyfnemec: 8/19/2014 2:50:39 PMPrivate matches are good for the community. -They allow tournaments (MLG and others) which allows Destiny to be part of the competitive circuit, which brings money and longevity to the game. -They allow people to play the game in different ways without having those stats negatively affect them. Yes, many people care about K/D and other stats, but that's great that you don't. Snipers-only? Rockets-only? ...Melee-only? There are some fun applications here. -They allow you to practice play styles and not be penalized. Want to actually learn how to harness the sniper or fusion rifle but don't want to get stomped on repeatedly while you try to do it? -They allow users to create game types that might actually make it into the game. Bungie has always been very accepting of user feedback on this. Grifball, anyone? My point is that those of you who don't care about it won't be affected. Private matches will give no glimmer or exp. There were be nothing to actually gain than the experience itself. Why be so opposed to something that does not affect you in any way? Private matches bring elitism to Destiny? No... it keeps those elite players out of the public matchmaking, which sounds like it benefits you if you're actually complaining about that.
