This explains why I love gaming and can't wait for Destiny. It's a reply I wrote to someone who talked about how his responsibilities prevented him from playing at midnight after the launch. He got flamed because people thought he was insulting them for being "no-lifes" but I don't think he meant it this way. It made me think about why I am so excited about Destiny, and why as an adult I am so excited for this game... so much for it that, at midnight, I'll be up all night happily playing Destiny. "In my experience, being thirteen was a time when I was subject to a bedtime under the tyrannical rule of my parent overlords. Now that I am on my own, I have a philosophy: When we were kids, adults made us do things that kept us from being happy, and we didn't understand that it was for our own good. Now, as adults, sometimes we forget that doing something purely to be happy is for our own good. Like most people, I made a couple promises to myself when I was a kid in that situation. "When I grow up, I'll play video games whenever I want, watch TV, eat candy whenever I want, and I'll roll the windows down and blast the AC in the car if I want!" Obviously we can't all be like that all the time, but every now and then it's a good call to remember those promises we made to ourselves and keep them. When we made those promises to ourselves, life was a lot simpler, all we cared about was being happy, and we knew what being happy really was. So I'm sorry to ramble, (It's late, I'm tired, and rambling on these forums helps me get over writer's block) and I'm sorry so many people are flaming you for your answer. I can respect that you have responsibilities and value other things over video games. I do really hope, however, that you keep a couple of those childish promises to yourself and have time amid those responsibilities to just be happy. If it's not video games, then whatever it is, that's awesome. I try to keep those promises to myself occasionally, when I can. And for me... this time... it means taking two vacation days and playing video games from midnight launch until I can't play anymore." Thanks for having this contest, I think it's pretty cool. Also:
ATTENTION CHILDREN OF THE WORLD: Eating candy for breakfast is every bit as awesome as you imagine it to be!
Edit: If for some strange reason, this post is chosen to win the shirt, (which I highly doubt) please give the shirt to Pegboard, thanks.
