Is 20 Slots Enough In The Vault?
Is 20 really enough, especially as it is shared between the three character slots?
I have this horrible feeling of having to trash SOOOOOO many good weapons that it's going to hurt. Imagine having to trash Legendary weapons just to make way for a new Exotics. Damn, that would make me cringe.

Agreed. 20 slots between 3 characters is kinda small. The inventory space is hardly an excuse because how am I to loot if I have my inv slots full of legendary and exotic gear that bungie say I'll have worked so hard to get. If it's true, I'm going to have a hard time dismantling them for 7 glimmer and some weapon parts.

1 ReplyI agree. However, normally if I didn't a better weapon, I equip it and dismantle the old one. Just because I can. Not in the case of Exotics though. Saving those bad boys.

The number of combinations one could make would lead me to believe I could potentially have 18 different character types. One of every gender in every category. Imagine vaulting 18 characters worth of stuff. 20 slots is NOT enough. Even for 3 it isn't enough.

Why limit the space? Just limit the sharing space between your own guardians. We are going to loose a lot of great loot, that we probably worked hard to find, just because of this vault.

20 should be fine. you can already hold a good amount of weapons on you. I don't think my inventory was ever near full in the beta. The vault's primary purpose is a means to trade loot between characters, so its not like you were meant to store every single thing you weren't using. Perhaps just some stuff you can't use yet. As as for those legendary and exotics, you will be trashing quite a few anyways. You need to disassemble items in order to acquire upgrade materials for items of the same rarity. Meaning if you want to obtain all upgrades for your favorite exotic, you are going to have to part with a few other exotics to do so (unless you want to spend several hours collecting materials such as spinmetal to trade in for it.) The game is putting a lot of emphasis on choosing one good weapon to use, and if you only end up using one thing, there is no need to really hold onto all of the rest. Just get comfy with one weapon and armor set, upgrade when possible, and break down the items you never intend to use again. You may never even have to use your vault.

Yes, as half the guns and loot you'll get will either be weak as you get better equipment. So you'll end up dismantling lots of gear for cash and parts for better gear.

20 is enough. You have a ton of slots to switch in each characters inv so switching gear for a raid or strike or pvp is not an issue while also being able to hold on to some of the cool legendaries or exotics you don't use to much. In a year or so I can see myself wanting more slots but it's good for a while

I think 20 slots is perfect considering the vault is just for things you'll swap between characters. One individual character has alot of storage space as it is. Even if you have 3 characters, you'll only use the vault to swap items. And if you need more space because you've found alot of rare things, why not just create a "storage character" that you only use to hold the cool stuff you don't want to use vault space for?

7 RepliesIn the Beta, I kept 1 Auto Rifle and 1 Scout Rifle on me, 1 Sniper and 1 Shotgun, and 1 LMG and 1 Rocket Launcher. That won't change. When it launches, I will keep only one weapon in my vault, the very first rifle, only for PvP. You need nothing else, it can all be scrapped. My concern is not having enough space to store weapon parts, spinmetal, etc. They don't stack past 40 each, and they are required for upgrades for high level weapons. Guess I'll be getting my Crucible marks the easy way, cashing all of that stuff in. P.S. - Stick with one character, no worries about storage space. Hunter FTW.

Regardless of the size, it won't be large enough. But keep in mind that each character can hold 9 of each item type in addition to the items in the vault. I'm certain I'll have inventory space issues within the first week. I guess it's just real incentive to only keep what I actually need.
