There are groups of friends who do actually try to hang out in person instead of over a microphone. Couch MP games really helps the camaraderie among friends, and keeps them closely knit, no matter how far apart inevitability may or may not take them. I respect it, sometimes value it.

I do play split games with my best friend but mics are perfect for fast pace shooters.

Halo is the most relevant Street Fighter and Pong share the same screen, and doesn't split it :)
