I don't hate MLG, I just don't know if it has a place in this game. This isn't a pvp game. It is a pve game first and foremost with a side dish of pvp. I think that's been the hardest thing for people to grasp, mainly because of it being a FPS, and most FPS games are pvp based.

 • Bungie has said that destiny will be an all around game. The PvP is just as important as the PvE. The only reason pvp seems like such a big thing in fps's is because that's what the community made it out to be. If everyone played the story in fps games more than competitive multiplayer then fps games would be considered story games.

 • But isn't pushing a game to MLG status help the game in general? It would help the competition in the game and may even bring in new players that are intrigued. It would help casuals AND competitive gamers together.

 • No. Look at the focus of Destiny; At least 90% PvE and the rest being PvP. MLG has a long history of "Dumbing" down games. By that I mean stripping out stuff that "Doesn't fit with what they deem properly competitive." Now look at all the variables Destiny has for PvP: Maps, Gear (with skill trees and stats), weapons (with skill trees and stats), not one, but TWO OHK weapons on spawn in player hands and, finally, 3 classes, with different sub-classes, that each have skill trees and super abilities. Now, tell me MLG mucking about with core Destiny gameplay, that is rooted firmly in PvE, to make PvP "balanced" would ever be a good thing. It wouldn't. MLG would have to strip out so much that Destiny wouldn't even play like Destiny any more. Then there is the fact(s) that MLG is way past it's prime and a very unprofessional organization that has almost no standards for it's "pros" behavior. MLG just needs to go away and be replaced by an organization that will prioritize professionalism, pro's being role models, and not being a divisive wedge for the gaming community.

 • No because then Destiny wouldnt be about bringing new content. Itd be spent constantly trying to fix balancing...i.e BF Franchise
