Why do casuals hate MLG?
That's like a high school Bball player that loves Bball but Hates NBA..
I hate how it's casual vs. competitive (hardcore) players in the forums..
Shouldn't we be helping each other to make a game that we all love to be better?
How can private matches hurt or spoil the fun for casual gamers?
Edit: well at least we ALL agree, that private matches won't hurt anyone by adding it to the game. Thank you for the posts, I have a bigger understanding for both sides.

And then it is the fact that this bunch of self proclaimed MLGs feel that they are so far above everyone else, that they openly go around and call everyone else "casuals", and in the gaming world that have turned into a rather offensive term.

9 RepliesMy opinion is that mlg type players are among the most pathetic kind of people, mostly. Not only pathetic but not real gamers, more of a mutation or better yet, a parasite. 'casuals' are the real gamers. These people are the original gamers that play games the way they've always been designed to be played. You see, games are meant to be fun. Everything about the way a try hard/kd whore/mlg guy plays just sucks the fun out of the game. It strips most of the game design away to just a very few core mechanics that they use over and over, the definition of boring. I understand that competition is fun but the level they aim for is better suited to a real sport or something similar. Maybe even a real war where your actual life is on the line. It ridiculous the play video games that way.

Dude because a lot of the mlg guys really are no lives, who think we should be impressed by the fact that they can play video games very well. Like WTF, how many mlg guys do you see pull babes? How many do you see being successful in life? How many of them don't look like they are scraping at the bottom of the gene pool? It's the false sense of entitlement and pride that gets to me.

1 ReplyI'm a true gamer and I can't give a single piece of fudge for either... Casuals = people who play games casually. They have none to below average knowledge on games. MLG = people who only play online in one single game for a very long time and think they're the best at it. while funny enough Gamers = people who like to play games as a hobby and have below average to good knowledge about games. Sometimes perfect knowledge about a game or two. Though I do agree that private matches wouldn't hurt anyone. You shouldn't get experience or anything for it however. They're just matches for funsies with friends.

I'm a casual player and I want I all the PvP stuff that cod,by,and halo have it would just add more content and diversity to the game. And not to mention that a lot more players would be happy about that. And it would effect the gamers who don't care about all the PvP stuff in a negative way. They add to have more strategy. I think it gives players a better chance at winning over others through choices in the game that have a skill curve meant to keep you on top of the game and that's how the system rewards you. I think it rewards you with how many options you can put together to beat someone elses along with skill. I would think a game in mlg keep casual playlists casual and they alter the playlists that would be played in mlg tournaments and so you have a choice to be competitive or not.

Because the world is filled with entitled assholes who think the game to be made their standard..... MLG players are upset because they spend countless hours mastering the games... but they are few and far between. Casual gamers are upset because they fear the focus of games is shifting to a market shared gamer corporate ratio where instead of gearing a game specific to a story.. it'll be arena focused play to wins.... Company's don't have the means to generate games to MLG players... and what the MLG players fail to realize is that they are creating the game MLG just by playing them the way they are.... never has a game been geared to such competitiveness .... so they will get what they want... Casual gamers on the otherhand are always just fearful that their better opinion will be ignored and the explore/campaign genre will soon be gone..... both fears are realistic but at this point unwarrented Be Easy People... the games will come as they are... its the community that drives their success and focus..... it's just two separate communities that don't really need to interact at all.... ~Huff

The majority of 'competitive' or 'mlg' players are condescending and continually make comments about how 'casuals' don't deserve to play with them. The hatred comes from competitive players who consider themselves superior, the worst of which are mediocre at best.

Not all, just the ones that believe themselves to be "too elite" for anybody to play with and that if you're not doing it their way, then you're not doing it the right way. The ones that sit on a self-appointed pedestal and criticise anybody just there to play the game. They're the people that like to turn a good, fun game into an e-peen measurement contest. The ones that believe they're entitled to put up the velvet ropes that section themselves from everybody else. Unfortunately these kinds of people are everywhere not just MLG.

1 ReplyUp until joining these forums I had no opinion whatsoever about MLG players but from what I can see even in just this thread is that they must be the biggest bunch of -blam!-sticks I've seen in my life How many of you are actually MLG and by that I mean are being payed to play right now cos if you're not then your just a casual wannabe and you ARE giving MLG a bad name with this sort of crap, I would hope the ACTUAL MLG players can actually conduct themselves with a little maturity
