if you exchange to materials like spinmetal also equip you unlock weapons since it upgrades your skills on your weapons and armour. but I hope this changes in the full game since it is to easy to get the skill on your weapons and gun that way . I'd prefer only been able to unlock your skill mods on you weapon by using it till it lvl/unlocks it
