Anyone who excepted to go anywhere they could see is a little delusional. Granted, they never should have said that to begin with, but it was assumed they'd take that quote back.
And this one map (out of four so far) is already bigger than forge world. Though, most portions were just driven straight through (who looked through every plane in the mothyards?). And there were at least three areas blocked off, two were straight walled off, and another was blocked by level 20 enemies (though, I got past and found it looped around to the other wise of the world, but I believe there were more branches down that way to explore).
Anyone who excepted to go anywhere they could see is a little delusional.
Not really, considering Bungie said you'd be able to pretty much do that.
-
There's always a limit though. There's no way to fit a map the size of a planet in the game without a lot of suffering everywhere else.
-
Surprising so few understand this very simple concept.
-
(who looked through every plane in the mothyards?)
I did, there was loot in them as well as dead Ghosts. Plus you could gather Spinmetal all over that area (I think it was probably the most rich environment for it in the beta).
-
Skyrim said it, and I was surprised you could actually do it lol
-
There were limits in that world. The world was huge (still is), but it had its limit too.
-
Well considering you could glitch over the top of the mountains and that world kept going and going into a different province I'd say the limits were still arbitrary
-
Ohh it did?? Dang I never found any hmm crazy..
-
You didn't look at what was there (or wasn't in some cases) critically enough then.
-
The edges are pretty far out of the way in places you'd never really go a lot of the mountains are edges but you can climb half way up so it feels like if you could only get to the other side you'd be able to see more you end up looping down a path and forgetting what you are doing because you spent 15 minutes and the threw some enemies around to distract you
-
Did you actually make it over the mountain? If not, there's the limit.
-
Yes plenty of videos showed how to do it. That game has to be a record for size on a console.
-
Cool, props to Skyrim then. But maybe there was a preconception about Destiny because of this that lead people to think it would be comparable in size. Yes, Bungie hyped it up because it is bigger than any game they've developed in the past. I recall something about making ODST where they had to angle the map to give the appearance of being larger. They also had trouble with the hub and had to implement door portals so it wouldn't crash the game engine. I also recall something similar to the quote people are saying is the lie from post dev Halo CE. The guy (can't recall who it was off the top of my head)commented about when you first crash on the ring, look up and think "yeah, I can go there." This isn't the first time a game developer has overstated their games's capabilities, and it definitely isn't the first time the fans have taken that hype and gotten way too enthusiastic.
-
Yep soo true lol
-
And skyrim is also glitchy as hell and crashes frequently. Not to mention most people fast travel instead of admiring all of the open space they worked on.
-
Skyrim has never crashed on me 1 time. My character is level 86 and I've been playing since it came out
-
I guess you're lucky. My sister-in-law says it crashes on her all the time. Same with a few of my friends from college and the Army.
-
Every once in awhile it'll freeze up when you go through a door or something but if you don't panic or touch anything for a minute it'll start working again hahah I love me some Skyrim
-
Well, all games have their glitches and quirks. I always liked the vehicle glitches in Reach where they would hurl you into the air so fast you would break through the boundary of FW and keep going. They always made for good "Fails of the Weak."
-
Hahaha yeh definitely. There's some sweet Skyrim glitches with loot chests under the map. They usually have awesome stuff too hahha
-
I clearly remember them saying each world will be bigger than GTA 5
-
They never said that
