Private matches?!
A lot of competitive clans have probably been wondering this. Any word on private matches? We've seen things about the game modes but nothing yet on private matches and I know some clans are somewhat worried about this. Some clans wanna scrim with other organized clans. Will Destiny have private or will it be a 24/7 pub match multiplayer?

Allot of clans will be on Desinty in the hopes of an actual, REAL competitive game that isn't CoD. - No I don't want private lobbies to boost loot. That's a dumb misconception by people who never played in private lobbies. They never offer XP, or ANY reward to prevent boosting (duh). - No I don't want private lobbies to look for glitches. Another idiocy that people come up with. Even [u]IF[/u] that's true, Bungie will patch these asap. Reasons people want private lobbies is to host competitive matches against other clans. Simple. No rocket science here. Take away loot, and XP from it, nobody cares. People want to host tournaments, and game battles, TO GROW THE DESTINY COMMUNITY, and people fighting this idea down?! What's wrong with you people? Go farm your PvE bots, and let the PvP players ask for private servers so they can have fun THEIR way.

I'm all for it. Private matches are awesome. As soon as Bungie removes the Iron Banner, Vanguard, and end match item rewards the Private Matches should be good to go. O_O You don't need that (those reward removals) [i]explained[/i] do you? If it's about the [i]competition[/i] then the victory is it's own reward since it's about clans battling clans for victory. It's definitely [b]not[/b] about clans of 12+ or more filling up servers to exploit rep and item rewards and bounties and contracts. It's about [i]COMPETITION[/i]. So, when all that gets removed those private matches will be just fine. I'm all for it.

That is the way it was in Titan Fall, but not to long after they added private matches so people could play with just their friends or other people they knew. I know through my many years of gaming private matches have created some of my most memorable moments but it will not change my opinion of the game if it is not offered.

I would think this will be in the final game. I'm not sure it will be a good idea to leave out an option for clans to arrange to play other clans. This can be done in all or most other FPS games right?

I kinda see this in the future. After all from walking around the tower I did see areas I could not get to and one Vendor I came across said he only sales to supporters of his faction. So if we will have Faction PvP why not also have Clan vrs Clan PvP also.

If customs aren't there at release, I'm betting that content is a planned release - as a free download - about two weeks in, after everyone is made to experience the Crucible the way Bungie intended for a bit. Essentially, I think Bungie has a bit of hubris (which they've earned IMHO) and are confident that they USUALLY know what is best for their customers.

I find it odd that Bungie can't make a mention of this in a weekly update. I hope it is included and also am under the assumption it will be. However it is concerning best it has not been discussed by the devs.

Without custom games there CAN'T be a competitive scene because there can't be tournaments or 1v1s or anything! You can't even train or have fun with your friends in a match against them. This game will be as good as titanfall's launch if they don't include custom games and the stay value will be HORRIBLE. I estimate 5% will stay after 3 months if this isn't in. The reason I say that is because I think by the time 3 months is done most people will complete the campaign and raids. Then what? Nothing besides 24/7 multiplayer and nothing else. I thought Bungie would've been more keen on this. I swear on 50% of the profiles I viewed on Halo 3 most of them had MORE custom games than matchmaking games. The other 50% had less, but they still played them. I never once saw someone with 0 custom games played. I wonder why.

Is be willing to bet private matches will be included in some form. Clans serve a dual purpose for both pve and pvp after all.

I had probably some of the most fun with the PvP in the beta, like other games it will get tedious after a while as it does in other games playing a team that's not using tactics/teamwork like they do in proper Clan matches, So I would as many others would like actual competitive features in the game as they generally make for some of the best matches played!

10 RepliesSince Bungie won't answer here is my take. Most online games even close to this game type don't have private matches and don't think Destiny will be any different. Main reason is part of PvP you are rewarded for your efforts so they have to keep things constant and fair. If they did do private matches no rewards for playing, and if so defeats the purpose of the game. So that is why I don't think it is in the game.

Please answer this Bungie, not everyone can farm pve bots over and over non stop, some like competition and real competition, not just putting 'competitive' below all your MP modes..
