All I worry is that from what we've seen, all of the guns look like small variations of the same gun.

There is a Bungie video that discusses how they built the guns. They came up with a program so they can pick from like a thousand different little pieces and build, paint, and rearrange them.
-
Yep they're all the samw
-
look bro they are not and tell why you are going to be using common and uncommon guns instead of legendaries and exotics cause there's no -blam!-ing generator for those guns. they are all original.
-
It seems like you only came here to air your grievances. Just saying.
-
Maybe true. It's also true that every single gun looks like the same 3 guns. That doesn't bother you even alittle bit?

This is why i like going on these forums because it makes me think a lot about what i'm discussing. at first, it did a little bit. Every gun i found was one of three different options: high rate of fire with low damage, high damage but low rate of fire, and a balanced version. so i was disapointed thinking that each new level of gun was going to be the same way. and as i made my way to level 8, it ended up being true. but i wasn't disappointed any more because there was more to the guns in destiny than just their stat-lines. They have different buffs and passive abilities. (more as you level up) And even though at first glance they may seem small they actually can make a huge difference in how you play the game. From speeding up your grenade cool down to making the gun more accurate after a head shot. Some of these abilities worked better with one of the three main variants than others. the higher rate of fire guns got more out of recoil control buffs than the slower rate of fire guns did. So yes their may only be 3 main variations in each class of gun but there are alot of ways to make each one unique. After writing this i realized that you said that they LOOKED similar. So my bad. i'll admit that they really do. from what i saw there were only two or so variations for how each type of gun was modeled. and the skins don't do much to hide that.

Yeah the way the game was advertised I thought we would have access to skins for gun customization and stuff. It's a shame that I won't be able to have all pink guns.
-
Cod aw has customization like that and it looks -blam!-ing stupid. People running around with ridiculous colored weapons. It would ruin the artistic integrity of this beautiful world Bungie has created.
-
No dude the point was to stand out from the masses. So what my guardian is a little flamboyant, let him live his life and let him push back the darkness with guns crafted out of the artistic expression pouring out of his pink soul.
when I mean pink I mean it in a jokey way but at least give us customization so our guns stand out, so they match our gear etc ,
-
Bungie said that they might be able to do cosmetic customization down the road. So it is possible you could get what you want.
-
Yeah hopefully
-
to be fair when your dealing with a rpg/fps on this scale, it´s kinda not economical nor practical to try and make a large pool of greatly varying gun designs, especially in this day and age of short development times, corner must sometimes be cut.
-
Destiny has been in development for around eight years.
-
Yeah but you don't start coding a game from day one, heck some games spend a year or more still just on word files, concept arts and text on a white board. How many years a game has been in development isn't important, its how many years they spent actually coding.
