  • If the auto renew was off it shouldn't have charged him and if his son downloaded something after it should have been turned off then he shouldn't be charges

  • Auto renew was not on, but the credit card info was still on the account. So the child goes to the store and sees the PS+ games. They try to download one, but it says you need PS+ and takes them to the purchase screen. One press of the X button, and they have subscribed and downloaded the PS+ game. The password protection would've prevented this, or just removing the credit card info to begin with.
