I think Osiris & Seven Seraphs where just place holders for Dead Orbit and New Monarchy .

Then why did they have all the factions as profile icons.

DestinyDB has quest line rewards for Osiris scattered about, and they are the primary source for the current list that includes all 5 factions. Naturally the info could be old, and maybe you're right, they could have simply cut them out entirely. I'm not willing to give up on them just yet, but still, that's something I hadn't heard before.
