Destiny is without a doubt the best game I've ever played, you guys have nailed it. There is only one thing that could cheapen this amazing game and potentially turn players away ... a player to player trade system. Bungie community, join me and speak up about this pressing issue that has the potential to cheapen this stunning game. Do you value the hard work it takes to earn cool gear? Or do you not value the hard work it takes? "Become Legend", this tag line says it all. It insinuates that you will work to develop your character and thus work towards becoming a legend. We don't want to trade so that we look like a legend. The way the gear looks in destiny is stunning. When you see someone cruise past you in the tower with a sweet piece of gear, you know he's worked to achieve it. That is an amazing feat for a game developer, to create such awesome looking kit that everyone wants. If Bungie implement a player to player trade system this will be meaningless. The whole experience of earning something special is cheapened. To think that a noob who's played for a week and hit 20 could be given gear from his highly experienced and dedicated mate is a sad thought. All of a sudden the last two months I spent earning that same piece of gear are worthless. The pride I had for my equipment, lost. There are many of us who experienced this on games like World of Warcraft, Borderlands and Diablo and felt that it ruined the game. So much that I stopped playing games that I used to love. I would like to quote a few bungie developers from the video "out here in the wild" in the hope that if enough people vote on this, if our voice is strong enough, we can get bungie to make a firm stance against a trade system. Christopher Barrett, art director "the number one priority was to make a world that people wanted to be in, something that you want to go back to and you want to explore". If there is a trade system it will cheapen the game and people will lose excitement about going back and exploring. Luke Smith, design lead "you're going to see a guy wielding the cudgel of zanthor or the fate of all fools or whatever crazy names the writers come up with for these weapons and armor, you're going to understand where they came from and what they went through to get there". Man does this quote sum up my argument. With a player to player trade system we will NOT understand what anyone has been through to get their gear. In fact, we won't even know how long they will have been playing the game. *Edit: A lot of great counter arguments have been made on this post and I should clarify. I am certainly not opposed to a well done trade system e.g. if items could only be traded for equal level items, or include a BOA or BOP system for high tier gear. I was referring to the AH and gold trading/farming/selling with WOW. The item giving and duping in Borderlands. I should have been more specific and not so general and I didn't realise this post would attract so much attention. I still strongly believe that any system where people can give loot or trade for glimmer or parts would be bad idea. But if done right, a trade system would be great. SECOND EDIT: a lot of people are complaining about the "terrible loot system", just FYI they DID just say they're patching tha said system. We have to see the changes that come out of it. Also the game hasn't even been out for three weeks!!!!!! To me it's expected in a game like this that you have to play for ages to get good loot. 3 weeks is nothing.

Them being able to raid/get a certain gear is exactly what we mean by devaluation. If we did everything in numbers; This super cool gun everyone wants requires a skill level of over 9000 (;D) to get. I work extremely hard to get good enough, utilizing a lot of thought and effort, to get this amazing gun. I finally achieve it, just to find a noob with a skill level of 4 has gotten the same thing off of his friend. Devaluation.

    • Trade systems are for crafting and collecting materials for crafting. Destiny is set up so everything is earned its the best system i have ever seen. If there is a trade system available it will cheapen the game and bring in loads of glimmer/gold farmers and will give players who never did anything, give them everything they dont deserve. I love the idea that all the gear you have you earned and its a trophy to account. Plus you can transfer stuff across your account with the vault so its perfect. With people you play with getting the right helpful green drop is just part of farming for loot.

      • i support a trading system of uncommon and common quality items, this will allow players to create a economy around basic items, without causing exotics,and legendaries to lose their value.

        • i usually would say yes, but why not a limited time in which people are able to give stuff to their fireteam/raidgroup? if i find let's say an exotic Assault rifle and i don't need it ( i obviously don't, i loved scout rifles at the minute i got one) i'd rather give it to someone in my team that had less luck than make 20 glimmer out of it.

        • I don't believe trading hard earned gear, but in saying that I do believe in being able to trade glimmer/spare ammo and other inventory specific things. But I don't think trading overall would be good in destiny nor put in the final version.

          • I think WoW had it right. Only make certain items tradable. Or wait until you've equipped it to make it non-tradable. There has to be a middle ground that will prevent, or keep the abusers to a minimum, but will also make the traders happy.

          • I wouldn't mind seeing Materials/Glimmer tradable. A "soulbound" implement for character/class items and weapons would sit well in Destiny IMO.

          • I want a trade system, but not a giving system. If you are going to trade for something of value, you have to give up something of equal value. A legendary for a legendary, a green for a green.. Etc... I don't want a giving system like borderlands. Make it so you have to actually trade equal value items between people.

            Love how you guys make this such a big deal. Yeah I earned a epic piece of gear. Hell maybe I earned 3 with 2 duplicates, if I want to give one to a buddy I should be able to do that. Was the battle to get it fun? Challenging? Hard? Time consuming? Memorable? Sure, but for shits sake you act like by beating some super badass beastie in a raid to get the super poopooundees of gargamel is the equivalent of climbing Everest! I mean the tag line is become legend....in the game! That doesn't transfer into the real world, it's a game Jesus. Giving a friend a piece of loot that YOU earned should be YOUR right. Let's be honest your eventually going to find better stuff anyway. This why I have hated playing MMO's some act as if it's this legendary world changing thing....it's a game....entertainment. As epic as this game is going to be, I think some of you need to come back to reality. As far as people selling stuff on eBay/real money trading and all that, it doesn't affect me and I could care less because I'll just raid and get the equipment I want anyway knowing I didn't have to buy it with real world money and I'll still sleep at night knowing Koreas government is funded by people being wallet warriors. I'll never get the gripe about this, in reality I could careless. I'm going to enjoy it either way.

              • If they implement any kind of trade system the game will be ruined by real money traders like so many mmos people should have to work for it not pay some guy who spends all day farming 5 dollars for something other people have to spend days farming for this goes for anything from glimmer to materials to gear

                      • This is quite a valid argument, and points from both sides can be concieved as plausable. I think if there were to be a trading aspect, that it should be for the misc. items, such as "SpinMetal Leaves" that were collectable throughout the game. But as I've read in the comments, I know I'm not alone in the aspect of gear being non-tradable is feesible as well. I myself have seen my fair share of people who didn't "earn" their gear and I've farmed and busted my ass trying to get he same gear on my own with no result. The only real thing I have to say on a constructive criticism level on gear droprate and probability is that it better no be broken like other games. Cause that in itself would break the game and a tradable gear system would be NEEDED. But as long as it's working properly and not broken then i say bring on No Trading gear, but consider perhaps trading misc items?

                        • I've paid my dues in mmo's, and I've suffered through Borderlands 2's BROKEN drop rate. Had it not been for duping and trading I would have never bought four expansion packs. So there's a cautionary tale here: exclusive to the point of impossible makes elite gear not worth the trouble for many players. I remember killing Terramorphous (a 4 player raid) over 90 times and not getting any of the gear I wanted - that would be heads, the shotgun etc... Good for thought
