You can't really compare a FPS raid to a WoW style raid. In WoW its all about memorization and positioning. There really isn't "skill" involved because for a given boss action you have to perform a very specific counter or wipe. It's like playing guitar hero on very hard. You can't present it that way in a FPS because the enemies by the very nature of the game type have to be more dynamic. There aren't tank/healer/dps so your grouping is more dependent on the skill of the individual than the make up of the group. So comparing to a regular MMo raid is not going to work.
Additionally, the rationale that it will have to be nerfed for the bulk of players if it's given a mm option is entirely based on the assumption that Bungie would nerf it. If your worried about nerf complaints you are still going to get them and a lot of them. People will still pug, people will spam tower invites to pug, they will spam the forum to pug, and all you've done is create an additional layer between the people who paid for the game and end game.

Edited by TransAMRaiser00: 8/2/2014 2:48:47 PMTo shorten up your post for people who r too ignorant to understand. WoW is not Destiny. Even if there are some similarities you cannot replace the fact that destiny is a shared world shooter and WoW is a mmo rpg third person non-shooter. The endgame video does not say HOW similar the raids are to a mmo. To all you woW elitists, get down of your high horse and drink a cup of tea.(or something to your liking) wait till the game comes out and then compare.

Firstly you cannot be a WoW elitest, it's an oxymoron. Raiding in wow, compared to raiding in its peers and predecessors is hardly hardcore, at best it's kinda casual. Secondly you have no idea what raiding in Destiny is going to entail, but knowing Bungie it will be significantly more than Zerging. What the devs have said that within the they expect that it will be defeated within a week on standard. On hard, well thereby lies the challenge. And if Bungie have said that it will be a gradual learning experience, then just blatting away with guns is hardly likely to cut it. So if it is more than just shooting, then it is fair to say that specific tactics will be required at various points throughout the encounter. If this is the case then there maybe some parity with MMORPG type raiding, in that it may require specific classes to perform specific functions at predetermined points. All in all this is the next and new generation of FPS/MMO type hybrid so all existing rule books go out of the window and we start writing a new chapter. One thing is for sure, raiding is the hardest type of encounter in the game and will only be completed through teamwork, cooperation and perseverance.

Exactly, that oxymoron is my intent. Anyways I'm tired of repeating sentences. Good day.

Except you can considering Bungie has stated that the raid system is similar to MMO's. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/07/30/destiny-the-endgame-is-only-the-beginning-ign-first

It's sad that it's gotten to the point that I don't believe a word a company says in an interview like that. And the problem is not so much match making. That's just the easiest solution. It's they have apparently excluded in game chat in favor of the forums. They need to either A.) announce there will be a general or tower in game chat so you can pug without going to the forums, or B.) Include match making, even if it is as one person suggested between 3 man fireteams.

So, I should take your word for it instead? LOL.

Lol no, that would be weird. "I am the great and mighty random Internet sage! Heed my words!" Lol I don't have enough ego to pull that off. I'm just saying as much and often as we are lied to by game companies for no particular reason, it is beyond me how anyone believes a word that comes out of their mouths.
