I want the D-pad to be used for something usefull.
I want the D-pad to to effect gameplay, not to dance.
I want the D-pad to not be jumbled up with emotes.

your longing for more buttons to do more things, but what? the game has all it needs without the use of more buttons in my opinion but I would like to hear yours.

There are alot of ideas that could be done. Here's a few examples. Use up to cycle grenade types quickly, and more importantly, easily during battle. Use left to turn on/off the flashlight. Use right to open a quick cycle menu for you to select a different primary weapon quickly. Use down to open an area map. Obviously these are just ideas, and I'm sure there are dozens, maybe hundreds of other useful things that can be done with the d-pad. I just would like to see better use of the D-pad than the emotes that don't actually effect gameplay.

it seems like you wish to play halo. this obviously isn't the game for you. your not supposed to cycles between grenades quickly, your not supposed to switch between primaries on the fly without a penalty.

Not sure how wanting available buttons to be used for a more practical purpose makes this not a game for me. Sure, I love Halo, but i know Destiny is a different game that I look very forward to playing it. You'll also note that I gave a few ideas out of potentially hundreds from the millions of players you could ask this question to. It's people with limited imaginations that I worry about in gaming.

Edited by Bobro: 8/3/2014 1:54:04 PMI know what you are saying but I agree with Mango, going into the battle being able to switch out on the fly because of bad preparation or change in situation seems to easy. Making things easy is not something people should want, I would want it so you can only pic the weapon in the tower and you are stuck once on the ground. (unless weapons are scavenged) You are welcome to your opinion and I can se there is obvious advantages to wanting these but I can see no down side to making the game easier with these changes. I agree with having a torch but have no qualms with having to turn it on from the ghost menu, that way if chased into a dark corridor I have to improvise on my feet rather than hit a button. If I run out of ammo I don't want to hit a button to change to the next gun with ammo (completed Quake4 final boss with no reload, just switched from weapon to weapon) best thing halo did was make you only carry 2 guns making decisions with outcomes on play. The map yes but it could be from the ghost menu, never needs to be I quick need. etc etc etc.

I can completely understand what you're saying. Maybe some of these ideas would make it to easy. But again just a few ideas out of many. I just think there should be better utilization of the dpad.

I feel its not that you need more buttons but you feel the emotions are pointless... however for those with no mic or foreign language the emotions can really help. Sitting can show impatience or a way of saying AFK. pointing often means this way or pointing at someone means follow them or I will follow you. the dancing is just a celebration to your team. and the wave is a greeting... in a single player these would be utter pointless but Destiny wants you to work in a team and play with others. if you look at almost all MMO there is emotions to get over the language barrier.

No dance = No comic relief. Every good story has comic relief.

I can't agree with that. I've read plenty of good stories without comic relief, but it does help when it's used well.
