Paramount Pictures Australia is apologizing for and immediately discontinuing a poster from the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” film that contains an image reminiscent of the Sept. 11, 2001, tragedy.
On the Australia poster, the four hero turtles are shown jumping out of an exploding skyscraper with the Australia release date of Sept. 11 in red lettering below.
“We are deeply sorry to have used that artwork for the marketing materials promoting the September 11 opening in Australia,” said Tom Roache, head of publicity for Paramount Pictures Australia, in an email. “Combining that image and date was a mistake. We intended no offense and have taken immediate action to discontinue its use.”
Would you say this is political correctness gone too far?

People are so -blam!-ing sensitive.

That's ridiculous. A building blowing up is automatically tied to 9/11 nowadays and it's just plain stupid to be offended by something like this. Might as well get rid of all pictures of planes and cities while you're at it.

. . .

At first I thought it was stupid they discontinued it. Didn't realize the release date was 9/11. Makes a lot more sense.

lolpoliticalcorrectness -
What if I said I didn't care about 9/11 but I'm American. •_•

I never would have caught that refrence without their help actually. I'm fine with the political correctness but srsly, no need to go ahead and type up an apology if nobody caught the mistake. Anyway this was a better advertising stunt than the actual poster. I had no idea this movie was almost out. Thought they were still filming lol.

I laughed a bit too hard when I saw that poster. But honestly having a poster with an exploding building and the date September 11 on it is a bad idea.
-
Nobody complained about the map in Halo: Reach. I don't see why we'd be bitching now.

So, the Australian release date is September 11th, the american release date is August 8th. The average american public would not have seen this if it weren't for butthurt-prone morons bitching about it on social media. Yeah, the PC guys DID go too far on this one.
-
Nope. Not referencing it at all. It's just 'Muricans getting butthurt as usual.
