I saw the quote if I could find it I would link it. 4 planets one destination for game release, very clear. I hope I am wrong but don't want others disappointed if they are wrong. That doesn't mean that we won't get other places on Earth, just will be in expansions, not release. Those pictures could be from the expansions cause I am sure they are close to done with them if not done, they have 2 DLCs promised. And if all other explorable areas are as big as Old Russia I think that is big enough for a FPS release in my opinion. Now my speculation, just going by intelligent guessing and if anybody knows otherwise I would like to hear. That each planet, like Earth, will have at least 5 story missions and at least 1 strike mission. If that were true that would give us 14 story levels we haven't played yet. Wouldn't surprise me if there were more.

  • probably more than that. dont forget the mission where you first encounter the warmind AI and how your ghost wants you to find him.

  • The problem is that Old Russia is comparable to one of the Halo big vehicle maps and each Destiny mission is so short its comparable to a halo mission checkpoint. So where Halo usually has 9 biggish campaign missions, Destiny by comparison might only have 4. There should be many missions in a destination and many destinations in a planet. The scope of this game is massive, and 4 locations, each the size of a real life park, is hardly a Solar system.

  • I hear what you are saying but at same time this is not Halo. The fact it's an online and has open world changes data and time resources, mostly since they try to make the area you are on seamless which I love how they did that. Halo don't have side missions, is mostly linear so wasn't a lot of exploration. And if you did explore there was no reason to. If you rush through story it will be shorter than a Halo game. But they designed it for you to do a number of things and for what I expected it seems big enough. The world of Destiny will get bigger in time through DLCs and sequels. All I can say to you in the end is I know it's disappointing when something isn't what you expect.

  • People keep using exploration as a way to pardon a short game. Exploration is what you get in Skyrim: hundreds of deep engaging dungeons with lore, items and unique monsters to find. Exploration in destiny (on the beta at least) is 30 random chests with poor loot on a tiny portion of a map. The areas you 'found' in the beta are unlikely to be off the beaten track, they're going to be involved in the story missions or strikes. I'm not really knocking Destiny, i love the idea and i'm on board for the franchise. I'm just majorly bummed out that the game they described in the briefings last year is not the game thats being shipped and although its good, the game is tiny compared to the one I made in my head. Obviously this disappointment is based on conjecture and if the rumours are all false then I retract my statements. But for now at least, Bungie are delivering on only a fraction of their promises.

  • Now comparing it to Skyrim, a totally other style of game and again single player. Elder Scrolls online don't play too much like Skyrim and there is a reason for it. Now comparing to an online game, Guild Wars 2, that game is huge on exploring. What makes people explore it is the fantasy play style, the challenge, the treasure chests. I don't expect that in this game cause it's a shooter and just a shooter, it just has online elements to it. So when I talk about exploring in Destiny what does that mean? There are 5 golden chests hidden around Old Russia, find all 5 you get a special speeder. Dead Ghosts are scattered around everywhere. In beta those ghosts give you lore about events that happened in the world of Destiny, maybe they'll have more purpose than we know. In the end, trying to listen to Bungie talk about the game I got what I expected. I think people looked too hard into what Bungie said. Got to separate the hype from the facts best you can. 1). They are trying to sell the game. 2). When you create something your view of it will always be different than those who just see your work. They have a personnel passion for the game and that passion spills out making something sound more angelic than it would to somebody that just views it.

  • 4 planets = Earth, Venus, Mars, Moon (even though the moon is not a planet. 1 destination is probably referenced to the wrecked ship orbiting Saturn's belt. People are probably misinterpreting this as only one destination to explore per planet because of the way they described the orbiting ship as a "destination" huge ship with explorable map but not a planet. What do you think?

  • I honestly couldn't care if it was one location for each planet and moon.
