I hear rumors there's only 1 explorable location per planet confirmed by DeeJ, but that's incorrect
When DeeJ said himself "We're calling them DESTINATIONS, you go to Mars, you go to the Moon, you go to Venus, you got Earth." Do we go outside the solar system? "Not so far... we reveal everything you'll explore in the first version of the game."
Where does this confirm only one explorable location for each planet?
Anyone ever notice that when you're viewing the map of old Russia there is a circle to the left with 3 smaller orb objects inside the circle that look like the Earth, and it looks like it has the rotate symbol indicating you can choose to pick a different map. Also, did anyone forget the rusted land map from the crucible? That map is NOT from Old Russia, but from the Eastern Flood Zone.

Look at the bottom it clearly says Eastern Flood Zone, Earth, confirming at least 2 different locations on Earth.
People are too quick to jump the gun.

3 RepliesTo be fair, it could be a real misunderstanding on what DeeJ said. Let's wait for The Powers that Be, to tell us more so. Because if they haven't noticed the internet blowing up about all this stuff, the datamined and DeeJ's words, they are really...behind. Bungie needs to do some damage control though. Everything that was datamined, was done some through the beta version. Even the owner of the website said it was subject to change.

Did you really think Activision cared about anything but money? You will get your $60 worth, but not a cent less unless you buy that DLC. #greatnessawaits

3 RepliesNo one at Bungie ever said there was more than 1 explore location per planet. It sucks though that they made a bunch of concept art for interesting locations, especially on Earth, and what do they do? They Make all the explore locations expansive deserts with a few abandoned buildings. I never liked Old Russia to begin with, I thought it was dreadfully dull, and lifeless (which I suppose is the intention) but knowing that is all we see of Earth is a let down.

1 ReplyIf I'm the guy making this game I would love to add more area than just one. Just depends on man power and money involved which they have so here's "hoping" were all on the same page. Easy way to not get disappointed expect the worst and hope for the best. But if you wanna be successful you have to minimize the hope factor and plan to make sure it happens. Eventually we will see more for sure

Agreed. It's simply a false speculation. People just jump to conclusions immediately. In my opinion there is no possible way that there's no other locations on Earth. I choose to believe the more positive speculations about Old Chicago and the forest location. On the Bungie website it shows 3 different Earth location pictures. I'm thinking at least 3 large area's on Earth and most likely every other planet. Bungie seriously needs to put this to rest and release a statement with even a small amount of info. Too many negative thinking, negative publicity and negative speculation caused by the public. A lot of people cancelling their pre orders because of ignorance.

2 RepliesI just want to point out that if each planet only has one area to explore, and each are about the size of what we had in the beta, then the whole game isn't much bigger than The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (counting the dungeons, which were huge). Not saying this won't be the case, but I would be slightly sad about that.

Nobody is disputing that there will be more to Earth than Old Russia. Yes, there may be missions or one time events that might take us else where. However, this does NOT mean that they are EXPLORABLE locations. Again, the only thing we have confirmed from DeeJ through the stream is that Old Russia, Mars, Venus and Moon are explorable locations. That the Easter Flood Zone is in Old Russia as well (or at least the Multiplayer map is) There is no evidence that says any of those concept art pics are explorable locations or that there is more than one per planet. There may be more they have yet to reveal, but so far, we the only evidence we have is for ONE location per planet. Your supposed confirmations are all speculation. Lets actually work with facts here. PS: We have not seen all of Old Russia, so even those can still be located within Old Russia itself.

20 RepliesDude I'm sorry but you're stupid, that "Rusted lands" is a multipayer map. They even said "we're making mupltiplayer maps from scratch, not reusing places in Destiny's story." This is just a mutliplayer map, there is no Eastern Flood Zone explorable, I'm sure. If that's the case, then we're is the Old Russia multiplayer map?? I believe there are more places on Earth to but come on, this post is just ridiculous man.

Edited by ColonelPutty: 7/28/2014 6:16:54 AMhaving to keep the "base game" content separate from dlc, meddling with expectations, it can be more than a little dizzying. many of you seem to have "adapted" fairly quickly to this growing trend of purposely fragmented content in lieu of a more singular, cohesive experience. this is troubling for many reason, but none more so than with every product comes the implication of a continuation of purchase, or membership, in order to glean any intelligible cohesion within the game. frankly, if they're going to design all the content within the original development cycle, just release it all in the final game and charge accordingly. for god sake, this is so fookin stoopid!

1 ReplyYeah. If you look here, Exodus Blue is in the Cosmodrome, which implies that Rusted Lands in the Eastern Flood Zone and all other locations are from actual explorable "destinations". At least I believe so.

The far right one and the second one look like a forest of some sort, the third looks like an abandoned city(the Chicago zone people have been talking about?). I'd say you guys are wrong about Russia being the only "destination" on Earth. Now, as to the other planets, who knows?

Could have sworn those 3 circles was actually an image of the colony rocket (you see a bunch ON the russian map), leading to some sort of Vanguard event.

I certainly feel like this is going to be a lot smaller than I was hoping for at launch. I was hoping for a game that would keep me busy for a good 200 to 300 hours of play. I have no doubt that they will add to it but when and how much I'm not sure. If I was to gamble on it I'd say they won't add much in terms of map size. Instead it's customizable content that they will probably add more of.

1 ReplyThis game is going to be massive. Maybe not right at the start, but it will get there. The only way a game will last for 10 years is if they keep adding content (which they already announced 2 DLC packs). One would have to assume that within those 10 years TONS of new "DESTINATIONS" will be available to explore. As far as bang for your buck, its not unheard of to get huge worlds for only $60.... World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI and XIV. Granted those are MMOs but you see my point.

5 RepliesAll these people finding excuses to preserve the possibility they're going to release a massive game for only 60 bucks. We haven't heard of any of the concept arts making it into the final build; even if they are, some are only lore. Even if they don't come out and say "hey there's only 4 maps to explore," assuming the game is going to have like 20 massive maps is even more unrealistic. We'll find out at release. Some people are still buying into the hype way too much.

I seem to recall them saying we would explore the "buried skyscrapers of Old Chicago." I don't think thats accurate.
