Nicely said OP, but bullshit. You can't hold up any creative work and claim that "if you don't appreciate this your opinion is invalid." That's simply ignoring the basic subjectivity of your own opinion and becoming a very different kind of entity to a reasonable contributor to a group discussion. I'll give you an example: Destiny lifts its MMO elements from the very most basic conventions of that genre. The hub, the emotes, the additional EXP trees (ie. the reputation systems), the layout and use of NPC vendors. Its thoroughly generic. The same for gameplay. Destiny plays a lot like some of the "B Grade" shooters from last generation in terms of the weapon mechanics but also the ancillary combat functions. Singularity, Timeshift, and Blacksite: Area 51 come specifically to mind here. They all tried for somewhat more polished, somewhat more involving, combat mechanics than what Bungie kept shipping with Halo and found themselves in a blank space of technically improved combat that missed the mark on being superior entertainment. And now that Bungie's trying to do the same thing they've found themselves at least with a foot in the same space. But while many games have failed using either set of entirely generic gameplay conventions (MMO or FPS) few have tried to combine them. Even though Bungie's way appears to be rather haphazard (see. the use of a strict MMO hub which fits in as naturally as a square peg into a round House Sparrow) the union of very divergent gameplay concepts has just happened to have found a game that's very worth playing. To put it simply they've struck the Halo CE magic all over again. Its not brilliant, its not even particularly competent, its just entertainment via any possible means (which is glorious.) So while you may love Destiny, you can certainly view it as being a very flawed, or perhaps even cynical, game at the same time. Many interpretations are possible, and what you end up with is merely up to your point of view.
