Right now PvP is bad. Its unbalanced and we knew it would be - the renormalising is cute, but ultimately it just does not fit into the game narrative. Worse, this is just bungie trying to sucker in extra customers from COD, here and there. What will happen is they will all troll the PvP area (no offense to them BTW) and make it feel so disjointed from the PvE experience, ruing the overall product in trying to grab a few extra dollars. The tower definitely has a PvP "feel" to it, with story quietly mentioned. Bungie will also get diminishing returns if they screw the pooch and focus on the PvP. Current marketing and past fans of the genre / studio are wanting an immersive story FPS - not a COD competitor (or worse, failed PvP clone) Bingie need to stick to making the PvE even better - its already fab - and not get bogged into the PvP side. It should be a way to pass the time / settle bro-disputes! NOT 50% of the game's draw factor. @mbTalent - yes, more rpg! I am a "massive" fan of the mass effect franchise. ME did 3 things very well; (third)person shooting, rpg and money making! Bungie should be aiming for the same thing, not running off to COD / battlefield land. ME has proven that you can make a franchise around a multi-sequel, scifi story driven game; with rpg elements, where you are the defender (guardian) of Earth... :) BTW - note what is missing? PvP. ME didnt need it and was slammed when it shoe'd in multiplayer in ME3. Im not suggesting bungie get rid of PvP (!), but they must be very careful to not lose focus of the goal; a story driven single/coop game. Reduce the perks from PvP and distrubute the cool gear to PvE is a good start. That way the PvP can be an arena, a tattoo if you will, of your accomplishments. Not a raison d'etre to boot up the game in the first place, and the "main" way to get any of the cool, interesting and powerful gear. This way it would become a self fulfilling prophecy - good PvP players get better gear, which makes them better at PvP, to get even better gear than everyone!!! What does protecting Earth and cooperating get you? Second rate, white and green loot cast off armaments, apparently!

  • You seem to have forgotten that Bungie is responsible for arguably the greatest PvP FPS of all time. Honestly, they could have chosen not to deviate from their formula for success and just made another Sci-fi multiplayer game. The fact that they didn't take that route shows Bungie's desire to build a more varied gaming community. But don't let their ambition fool you; Bungie wants Destiny PvP to be BETTER than Halo's. They're going to put a massive amount of resources into it because they know how important it is to that PvP sector of gamers.

  • A lot of good points, especielly with PVP actually being an arena. Considering Halo was like that, everything was balanced - Armor, Weapons, etc. PVP doesnt seem to be balanced at all and the matchmaking is shocking in comparison to bungie's previous titles. I have one clip on my computer to shows how bad the lag is. I understand it is a beta, but even playing internationally on H3 and HR there wasn't this much BS.

  • The game is being published by Activision, who as you may know, has published every single CoD title to date. The emphasis on PvP is going to be in the game like it or not, how strong it will be is up to Bungie to decide.

  • Agreed. After reading your post, it occurred to me that perhaps the one benefit of PvP is that it will keep the CoD guys out of the PvE. lol

  • but the scary part about that is if they tried to keep all the cod guys out of pve by focusing on pvp then the people who actually want to play pve wont be satisfied

Not sure what world you're living in, but of everything in Mass Effect 3, the multiplayer was praised the most, receiving few if any negative reviews

  • Mass Effect's multiplayer wasn't PvP though, which helped it significantly. Honestly that's the way Destiny's multiplayer should have been handled, or at leas in a way similar to that.

  • Yeah but he said ME3 was slammed for having multiplayer. While it's true ME3 got a lot of flack it wasn't for multiplayer.

  • I don't think Bungie is "trying to sucker in extra customers from COD" by having a PvP. Bungie has been making PvPs since before Call of Duty was a thing.

  • PvP is not unbalanced, lol. Some things need tweaks but as a whole it's fine.
