Your Character's Backstory
Since Destiny has like, RPG elements, I like to make little backstories for my characters. It really adds to the immersion and is a kinda fun thing to do in your down time.
My Warlock was a student during the Golden Age who was attempting to discover secrets of the light, but as he got to the Cosmodrome in Russia to get to the appropriate planet to share his findings, the collapse or w.e that destroyed the place killed him.
My Hunter was a soldier during late modern times/ early Golden Age who was on her way to becoming one of the first colonists along side her family when they were killed in a car accident during the Russian winter; their car was buried underneath the snow and was never found.
My Titan was actually a bodyguard for a high ranking official sent to scout Earth after
The Collapse to check for any signs of life, but he (and his group) were killed by an unknown group; the last thing he rendered seeing was a red helm with glowing green eyes.
Somehow, these three would come together during their initial trips to Old Russia and formed a group that would attempt to become the legends humanity so needed, and live the lives that were stolen from them.
That's what I came up with while getting my ass handed to me in The Crucible. What about you guys? Any stories for your own characters? Would love to hear them.

(In another post I said he was from Venus but I changed that) I was born out in the wilds, and never knew my parents other then they were likely Awoken. As a child, about five years old, I was found by a nomadic group of Hunters called "The Dire Wolves." led by a female Awoken named Vex, as an inside joke, but Mother Wolf as a show of respect. The others were an EXO male named Kay-12, he looked mean but he was actually quite the opposite. As well two humans, one an asian man named Lang and an african woman name Sarah. They tought me how to survive in the wild. Vex tought me how to use knives and showed me how to make quick, clean kills to minimize suffering. Kay-12 tought me how to use a sniper, I'm good but not half as good as Kay-12, he was like a brother to me. Lang and Sarah tought me different stealth techniques. We were a very family, we looked out for each other, and we had a quote "Hunt as a pack or die alone". When I was older, 19, Kay-12 told us he thought we should try making it to a place called "The City", supposedly it was a safe haven. However Vex and Lang hated the idea, saying "What has the city done for us?", but eventually they agree to at least have a look. We traveled for days till we came to a wall, Kay-12 said it was the wall to The Cosmodrome, in Old Russia. Apparently, there were old dead and forgotten colony ships, they were taking people to colonize new planets. As we were making our way to the gate, a sudden horrible sharp pain pierced my back. I felt my chest and it was wet but warm... the last thing I remember was Vex holding me tightly sobbing over me, and Kay-12 was trying to drag her away yelling to run. As I saw them run off it got black... When I woke, I sat up yelling "NO!", and quickly placed my hand to my chest. My gear had a bullet hole in it but my chest showed only a scar. As I sat there, I was greeted by a small AI, he called himself Ghost, and apparently I had been dead for two years. Ghost told me he had to get me to the City, as it was the last place safe on earth. He helped me through the Cosmodrome and waves of Fallen. We were able found a ship which we took to the city. There we met a man called The Speaker. He said he hoped Ghost chose well to which he replied "I did. I'm sure of it." From that moment I consider that little guy my friend. I just hope my old ones are still alive as well. Too much? sorry :( I'm a sucker for RP. Edit: I also have an EXO Hunter but can't decided which will be my main. So BS may change.
