You will fly past level 8, and even 20 before long, after the full game comes out and all the "sweet" items you've collected in the beta will be worthless and quickly replaced by even more awesome gear suited to your (and your enemies') level. You found rare items once and it didn't take long; you'll be able to do it again, don't worry. =)
