Sorry I disagree it totally ruins the story experience. Number one reason is stuff changes. Scenes get added, deleted and so on. Don't want to miss a thing.

 • So because YOU don't want to replay the story missions, EVERYBODY has to get their progress wiped?

 •
So because YOU don't want to replay the story missions, EVERYBODY has to get their progress wiped?
nope didn't say that at all. I'll simply erase everything on my own and start fresh. I am simply saying people who start with there beta characters of they allow them to transfer will not get the total experience. There will be changes. Leveling is even being sped up in beta so it messes with that as well. But ya everything should go how I say. I rule everything.

 • Who's to stop you from replaying them? Why do I have to replay them because you want to see teh story again and I dont?

 • Ok people need to quit being ignorant. Its a BETA all the crap you've done is to help bungie, not get a head start. Also its a really old build of the game and the final version will be so much different, anything you take over would be out of place and pointless.

 • Can you quote my ignorance please? I dont understand why you brought ignorance up. It's a beta sure, but then why are we getting a simple emblem? Why does a preorder give us a head start in the vanguard armory? Is it really an old build? Why would we test an old build this close to launch? Cough*

 • the beta is built to test specific portions of the game and how different in game mechanics work in a real setting with lots of people... so on and so forth. So to think that you will have to "replay" anything if your character is wiped is silly since the beta is "built" so specific things get tested. meaning all those missions were designed for the beta and will play out much differently in the actual game.

 • Why did they then not stick to the same format as the alpha (if their testing game mechanics and etc)? Why did they have to insert story line?

 • Cause that wasn't something they chose to really test in the alpha. Typical core mechanics is what's stressed in an alpha for testing and then the beta adds more of the bells and whistles (gamemodes and what not) with the core to make sure its all working correctly together the way they thought it would.

 • Because they need thousands of people to run the main story sequence? Seriously?

 • Thousands of people will play the story simultaneously when its released which indeed they need tested since its an always online game and you wouldn't be playing any aspect of the game if their servers can't handle the day one load. So yes that's exactly what they need is a ton of people playing it at the same time over and over.

 • Are you thinking that the game downloads the cut scene right before you see it? You dont think its part of the 13 gigs? like seriously?

 • I don't think anyone is really arguing with you it's just opinion. But the fact is this. I'm not sure how many betas you have been in but stuff does change a lot sometime. There are times when entire cut scenes get added and so on. I can already tell you the first scene in Destiny is a filler scene. I can guarantee it's not the same scene we will see at launch. Beyond that it's a beta. We are here to help find bugs and make the game better for us at launch. Progress is totally expected to reset. This is nothing. I've played PC beta mmo's that have reset on me 5 times and I've had 100 hours into each time. Like I said though even if they did let keep everything I will start from scratch because I want everything to be fresh and I want to experience the fixes the bugs I/we helped find. I'm a huge lore nerd as well and I'll want to refresh on the story. Also I play beta totally different from the actual game. In beta I level up quick, I may skip things, I'm on a bug hunt. By the time the game releases I expect those bugs to be polished. Something else to note is 9 times out of 10 the leveling in beta is sped up. I know this is for Destiny as well. How do I know? Go kill a level 2 enemy, then go kill a level 8 enemy, you get the same experience from both enemies. This can't be like this in the full game because people would just sit at level 2 enemies and level up all the way, why would they bother with harder enemies if they didn't have to, that's what some people would say. Now for the biggest reason why stuff usually doesn't transfer is glitches in the game like the chest respawns. IGN posted a video of how to farm glimmer. That right there is going to stop any transfer that bungie may have done. Everyone is farming that chest and it wouldn't be fair for some player to have 50,000 glimmer because he farmed a chest that was broken in beta. Those are my reasons. I can keep going but I'm bored of this. Let them take my level 8 character. You do realize that within 1 hour after launch everything you have right now will be replaced by higher level gear?

 • that's the kind of stuff that's stored locally but how do you think online games work? A lot of information is downloaded from servers and fed simultaneously to multiple people so they see the same stuff at the same time. If it was all local it wouldn't be in sync at all between players.
