Beta shouldn't transfer for the simple reason is that it's a beta. Things can change between now and the final product. And some things will. The point of the beta is to help find bugs and to evaluate the various aspects of the gameplay to see what works and doesn't work as well as they suspect.

How about it should transfer simply because this is a marketing ploy plain and simple, not a true beta.
-
Sure it is.

That was my impression after playing and every critic I followed agreed. It was the most complete "alpha" anyone has seen. Yes, this beta is still a stress test...with the true test being at 2pm PDT Saturday, however it is more of a marketing tool than anything...a facet of betas that 90% of people tend to overlook.
-
Exactly, its a damn taste of the ice cream and a stress test.
-
You suspect it to be a marketing ploy. But it's still a beta and already things have changed and aspects of the game rebalanced. And we still are not done with the beta.
-
I don't suspect anything, this game had literally buzz before this . Yes they are getting some decent data but this wasn't a test for them it was to sell copies of the game.
-
It was and is a test and I can prove it. First, a few things have already changed from the pre-maintenance version to the post maintenance version. Second, all you have to do to earn the permanent reward is be online. It's not some sort of super public event. Just be online. You could be dancing in a tree on the tower and you will get the reward. Why? It's not because Bungie loves you (apparently they do because they said so). It is because they want to do an infrastructure stress test before they put out the full version of the game. They entice you to be on during their treat by giving us a permanent (read transferrable to full version) reward for helping them TEST it.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if the purpose of this test was to see how much players online can their server handle on launch date...
-
Yes. It is. That is why it's called a stess test.
-
For the simple reason its a beta? Thats a simple reason yes but a terrible one i'm sorry name me the complete downside to a carry over, what would make a carry over terrible?
-
Again. It's a beta. I am not going to be able to convince you that it's not the full version of the game nor can I convince you that what you are playing now isn't going to be exactly like the game you will be getting on 9/9. You obviously went into the beta thinking you are playing the full game early as some sort of reward and there for should be able to keep everything! Sorry, but it's a beta. You should have viewed it as such and used it as a beta to help Bungie find bugs and help them improve on the game before they release their final product. Again, you are not playing the final product. You are part of a really large group of beta testers.
-
Obviously haven't read my op I dont care if its wiped but i'm not gonna be sad if it is carried, I don't think I got the game early or its a reward I've tested every gun ive gotten and have explored looking for shit that isn't right or glitchy, I just personally don't see the harm in saving everyone that's played the beta 5 hours of their life.
-
There is no harm? maybe not maybe yes. But there is no point. It's not the game. It's a slice of the game and parts of the final game won't look/feel/work like it does in beta. They may choose to do away with certain weapons or the way they work. So those people will have their legendary loot stripped away while others who didn't have it get to keep theirs? Seems fair to me, what say you?
-
You will not get one. There isn't a real reason why our progress shouldn't carry over. Lol

This!
