I don't understand why some people keep thinking that they'll get stomped in the Crucible because people have better gear when Bungie has publicly said the PvP is designed so everything is equalized. There are no gear or level advantages when playing PvP, even if you have Legendary gear equipped you still will only do the same damage that the Level 2 w/ a 29 dmg Auto Rifle will do to you.

The biggest reason for wiping after beta in ANY game is because the final version could be balanced different. Without a wipe you could end up with unbalanced gear, items that didnt make it into the final build etc. Things could go bananas and people need to realize this.

Agree. Now here's the one reason why it should be wiped: the final version will not be the same as the beta. For all we know, leveling was scaled, loot will be adjusted, there were parts of the story left out, more enemies, more glimmer, different attributes, enemy balancing, yadda yadda. Do you understand this? BETA TEST. Not early access. If they make even ONE tweak to the first part of the game that we have played, nothing at all should be transferred, except cosmetic items like an emblem. No gear, no characters, no stats. Just a little icon to say "hey, I helped beta test the game." That's why. If you can't understand this, you were the wrong person to be testing the game.

We all new this was a Beta. As far as we all knew, nothing carried over. Why did so many players grind so much in this Beta when for all they knew, nothing carried over? Its your fault for doing all that you've done with no guarantee that you can keep anything. And now that you've done so much, you come to the forums and complain to Bungie about how you want everything you've done to carry over. That is what's not fair. For numerous reasons, I hope nothing carries over and I hope that we all start from scratch come 9/9. As far we know, leveling up was sped up, loot drops may be different, story missions may have been skipped or left out, more/different enemies, earning glimmer might have been scaled, etc. If you don't see this, you are the wrong person to be Beta testing a game.

Adding on to the whole "not remembering the story" thing, if you want to catch yourself up you can just start a new character.

wtf is the crucible? and by roll don't you think it would be more fair if it were v your lvl? already balance issues id ont like the sound of that.

Don't forget character customization. We will have an increased amount of choice and Bungie would rather us use all the options available rather than sticking with the Beta appearances.

i dunno...i'm kinda half and half about this.... this beta is a taste of the gameplay experience..it's not meant to be representative of the final product, and i don't think what we have is even representative of the first bit of the game....i think it's pieces from the beginning of the game, with some bits left out....it's said that what we have on our consoles is less than 10% of the game....so yeah, they probably left a few bits out of the section we have.... that said, i don't think our PROGRESS should carry over....but maybe they strip our characters to level 1, store ALL of our current armor, weapons, marks, ships, sparrows, emblems, inventory, etc in the vault, or some other suitable container that we can access at the tower after we are brought there...so we can get at them, and once we're leveled to a sufficient degree, we can use them again....this way, EVERYONE starts equal, but we can get our old stuff back after we've played a while... it would be annoying to hafta track down ALL of the dead ghosts i revived (somewhere around 20 of them), but i suppose i could do it again, since i know where they all are now.. anyway, basically what i'm saying is strip our progress, but let us keep the items, so we can use them after we level up... if they were gonna carry stuff over from the beta, this would be the way to do it. it's fair....of course, it's up to them, i still absolutely ADORE this title, and i'll play it until my thumbs bleed, once it's out....i'm just making a recommendation is all..

Why do people always expect beta progress to carry over? It's a BETA, not a headstart.

Weapon stats won't matter in crucible unless you are in iron banner. Regular crucible balances every weapon to be the same other than their accuracy and rate of fire.
