How to fix the Interceptor with a small nerf

After receiving feedback I feel the best way to fix the Interceptor is applying a small nerf by having it overheat like the pike does, after 4 rockets fired back to back. Below in italic is my original idea and the extra bold is just a tip. The Interceptor is only over powered when the game first starts, when no one has supers or heavy ammo. It also makes it harder for the other team to get their supers since they are dieing right off the spawn, putting the team in a rut for several minutes. How can you fix this without changing how the Interceptor works you might ask? Have only one Interceptor spawn and have it spawn at Bravo, only after the flag has been taken for 30 seconds to a minute. This will allow the start of the game to be more smooth and the pike more viable. People will have a Interceptor free minute to build up their supers and fight for Bravo with tooth and nail. But what about the stationary turrets? Yes they do own vehicles and guardians alike, but a good Interceptor pilot can sit behind cover and shoot over it. The rockets have a pretty serious arc to them so they will hit the turret. The only way turrets kill the Interceptor is by surprise and all the pilot has to do is pay attention. One way you might not know to take down the Interceptor is the Pike. The Interceptor has a super slow turn speed, so all you need to do is stay behind the Interceptor. Coupled with the pike's ability to use L1 and R1 to lunge side to side quicker, you can kill the Interceptor without taking damage. Note this only works when you have enough space. One last thing, currently Alpha and Charlie have heavy ammo spawns. This gives incentive to keep these points on lock down. Bravo is just a capture point, so your better off keeping Alpha and Charlie, leaving Bravo to be your teams kill box. Giving Bravo the Interceptor will change that. EDIT: Have the Interceptor spawn at Bravo same as Heavy Ammo spawns at Alpha and Charlie - suggested by Tibbaryllis2

  • So let me try to understand this. You want to take the interceptors away from both teams then make it uneven by only having one interceptor on the map? Not sure about your logic there. If both teams have the same vehicles and duke it out at the start. Whoever comes out on top of that battle is going to come out with a badly damaged vehicle and will be easy to take out with just the basic equipment you have at the start. You realize you can take down an interceptor with an assault rifle right?

    • If only one spawned at B after being uncontested for 30 seconds or so that would be greatly balanced. As constantly as B swaps hands in random matches it would be possible for it to never even spawn. I support the notion.

    • I have t osay it at least one more time..... Stop the -blam!-ing nerf or change discussions about stuf that is really good balanced allready just because u are not smart enough to handle it! It is the same for Handcannons in PVE are underpowered as for interceptor on moon is OP. Thats just false! Moons balance is based on paper, scissor, rock method. Guntower are extremly strong against vehicles but weak against nearby Guardians and Guardians fighting while using good cover + no option to move Vehicles are strong against Guardians and vehicles but also weak against other vehicles, AOE Grenades (warlocks for example kill the guardian on a vehicle very easy) heavy weapons and most of all Guntowers Guardians can also cover from enemy vehicles just by not leaving the station in the mid which is connected with every control-point. There are surely issues with balancing mostly in the crucible as for example automatic rifle is the strongest primary weapon (fast firespeed > higher damage(which is really weak in the moment)) or some balancing probs between the classes (I was really happy i didn't had to play hunter to use a sniper rifle as i hate his whole mechanic) but moon is like i mentioned before the best balanced map of them all! Just use youre brain instead of complaining all the time. It is like the old discussions about camper and the noobs allways running in them and then complaining that the campers are so unskilled creeps XD I like enemys who camp and are good at it as it gives me a challenge to fight them more worth than killing 2 enemys before i die in the mid of a battlefield ;)

      • Disagree. Each team starts with an Interceptor which makes things fair for both sides. Just remember to keep an eye out for incoming rockets.

      • There is a reason both teams spawn beside a turret. Hop in that instead of the interceptor and watch the easy vehicle kills come to you. It's good level design.

        • I believe they should have limited ammo, and should have to leave vehicles to capture letters.

          • Or they could simply make them take two-three minutes to spawn rather than being there in the beginning

              • Well, both teams get the vehicles. So I have to say, if you (I don't mean you, but people in general) aren't confident to the point that you thinks it's very probable that you'll outshoot the enemies vehicles, you shouldn't get on it and let someone do it, that is confident about it (This counts more for Iron Banner than Crucibles -> here try using them). Most people just think about it being cool/fun/easy kills or whatever, but the first thing you gotta do before going on a rampage is to take down the enemies vehicles. Also having one guy jumping around an interceptor makes it easier for someone else to shoot the driver, leaving you with 2 interceptor to the pleasure of the enemy team. I think that the importants in B is that in my opinion it's the hardest to get and easiest to defend on most maps. which makes it easy to not give the others points for getting it. At least that's how I feel about B. As always, if you don't agree with what I'm saying or wanna add something, just reply. I like exchanging thoughts ! ^^

                • Somewhat agree, but instead of making it contingent upon capturing a point just make it timed liked heavy ammo. On maps with interceptors instead of shax saying "heavy ammo inbound" he'll say "heavy ordinance inbound" which means the heavy ammo and heavy vehicles will spawn.

                  • Not the worst idea in the world, but I bet they have more than just 1 map with the tanks in the full game. So while this would work on the Moon, probably not totally viable upon release. I'd prefer they do away with combat vehicles entirely.
