Hell no. Keep it fireteam only.
I really don't want to hear kids complain or brag about how awesome they are in the crucible. Thanks, but no thanks.

Stay in party chat then
-
Yep, fireteams only. It best for all.

That's what mute is for...
-
So add a setting to switch chat between public, party or fire team . Party being for Xbox players.

I like to hear my enemies complain about me it makes me laugh that they had to struggle but I'm not the type to complain if I know people online will hear me if they can't hear me I do and my family gets angry at me. But imagine a sniper on a broken rocket ship that has snipped you three times and you have a shotgun. You need to let somebody with a sniper know about that guy. So you can take b back. It's little things like that that will make or break a squad in these games...

Simple solution would be a toggle to turn voice chat off. Just because you're anti-social doesn't mean the majority is...

It's not anti-social to not want to be exposed to a barrage of childish bragging and name-calling. The people doing all that are the anti-social ones. I'm sick of games being ruined by scores of mouthy teenage boys, and being told to just switch the sound off when I'm not the one causing the damn problem. So many games are toxic because of these players, it keeps a lot of people from even trying them. Which may be fine for the asshats mouthing off in chat but not so much for the game companies who lose revenue or the other potential players who miss out on the fun.

That's what a MUTE option is for. If Bungie asked those that play the most - I believe the stats would show that folks want to be able to chat
