The physical game is a lot more fun than the video game versions. You can probably find a Friday Night Magic happening nearby, but I hear they tend to be competitive and mainly focussed on Standard (restricting cards to recent releases, not older cards). But yeah, if you want to get into it, search up Friday Night Magic and you might be able to find a local game to get started.

Won't it cost quite of a bit of cash to play the physical game though?

It can be pretty expensive, yeah. What you can do though, is buy an intro deck from a local store. Or get a cheap custom deck from eBay. Then get a couple of boosters and mix and match cards. Play with that deck for a while and go from there. If you need another one/want more specific cards, buy when you want to.
