From what I have gathered about Dead Orbit (this is only from reading the text on all of the gear the faction rep within the tower offered), they are a group of people that are unwilling to stay in one place. Call them travelers, because they want to expand and explore. They try to encourage others to do the same, don't become caged within the city like an animal. As far as the faction being tied to Awoken, I don't know.. but it would make sense, since Awoken are proclaimed to be "brought back from the dead" and Orbit would maybe stand for their desire to expand and conquer?..

All Guardians are "brought back from the dead" not just Awoken. "Awoken were born in the Collapse, descended from those who tried to flee its wrath. Something happened to them out on the edge of the deep black, and they were forever changed." - Awoken Grimoire Card.

  • Which part? The Guardians brought back from the dead? That is 100% confirmed all you have to do is google it. Here I'll throw in some links to help you out. http://www.destinythegame.com/wheretobuy/editions (Read the description for the Ghost edition) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wfmuzX1cuE (Video with loads of evidence) http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/28ggf1/our_guardians_we_are_dead/ (Even more evidence)

  • I appreciate you pointing these thing out, but: 1- These ghost edition description could be subject to change. 2 - One of the grimoire cards said "among the dead" this could mean that your ghost found you out in the middle of no where, where most of humanity died. Not necessarily being dead in a literal sense. I'm not disclaiming there are Guardians that were dead before, this could very well be true for SOME. But I don't believe ALL guardians were dead before, because then the story wouldn't make any sense.

Bro. The Ghost Edition said that your ghosts has been looking for you for centuries and that he brought you back to life from the ruins of the collapse. How is the description subject to change? It was posted 2 days ago if it was a serious error they would have changed it already. Also did you read the links on Reddit? There were various pieces of gear that said things like "No one comes back the same" or "Shake it off, we've all been dead before." You pointed out one grimoire card that was pretty vague, but they're several that describe Guardians as being an ancient corpse brought back to life from the Ghost. It also makes a TON of sense. First off think about the name "Ghost" and how each Guardian has their own Ghost that tracked them down for centuries. In the trailer you here the Speaker say "This darkness found us, and that was the end of everything." Referring to the collapse where many people may have died. And then the Ghost says "That is until I found you." He then goes on to say how he has been looking for you specifically for centuries. I mean there is so much evidence out there it's ridiculous man. You have to have been the first person I've talked to who has doubted this information. It's all good though. Sorry about the long post TL;DR There is way too much evidence in trailers, gameplay, and even promotional ads by Bungie that prove that our Guardians were originally dead and have been reanimated by Ghosts. Don't forget about that Traveler though.

Well yeah, the ghost came from the traveler, it says with the traveler's dying breath, it created the Ghost to go seek out guardians that had the ability to weld the light and do what it could not (or failed to do). The only flaw here, is that you are saying ALL guardians are undead. If all guardians were dead, that would put a huge hole in the story. 1- How can Exo truly die? They were reactivated. 2- Would Human still be considered Human after death? Only Awoken can truly be the ones that were ALL dead, there may be some "undead humans and exo" but those holes would be there. Another hole would be, was there a time period where there was no guardians, because they were "all dead" what happened to the structure of humanity? and when did new structure come into place?.. This would also eliminate the Hunters lore, because ghost find Hunters out in the wild, as nomads. These are only questions the story can answer and nothing is confirmed.

  • You're right we will have to wait until the game comes out to find out the truth, but I'm thinking everyone with a Ghost was previously dead, regardless of race. In the comments section on the reddit thread I posted, they're are some really spectacular ideas about this topic.

  • I was so confused. All I could think about this was, "Dude, did neither of you play the beta?" No. You hadn't. it was July 9th.

  • Yeah, most of this speculation is clarified now. Was more misinterpretation on my side.. I thought Destiny was only about "Guardians" but there are regulars who don't have the power to wield light. So most of my confusion was cleared up with the beta.

  • I can't wait to get more info on the other factions though... Not that there is going to any more story info leaked till release, but I am content and immersion hungry.
