can you change factions once you join? or are you stuck with what you pick?

The alpha worked by purchasing faction gear through crucible rank and marks, if I'm not mistaken. I'm on my phone atm

To answer you ironpope, bunjie has stated that you are a free agent which means you can do quests for any faction or maybe even change factions or be a member of every faction. This is speculation of course. Bunjie has kept the world in the dark.
