7/19 reviews are people who got a bad unit. they also have people who got good product that worked. they both claim the latest mobo drivers updates can kill their computer or scramble their BIOS. the product has a 4/5 rating. there is a less expensive deluxe version with fewer reviews(8) and more somewhat useless features who also mention that the drivers are buggy, but overall the product gets a rating of 4/5 There is a cheaper unit made by a different company with only 6 reviews but it has a 5/5 rating and slightly less features than both other boards. which one has the best rating?
it's the asus Z97 Maximus 7 vs the asus Z97 deluxe Vs the asrock Z97 Fatal1ty
I've had good luck with Asus boards (currently have 6) and only one ever "died". Asus took it back, no questions asked, and fixed it. Go with the board with the newest chipset and most features (that you actually want). Then, be sure to download the drivers and BIOS files from Asus. Ignore what's on the disc in the box, it's rarely up-to-date. Flash the BIOS (if there is an updated version) before you go installing the OS. Also try sorting the search results (some sites allow this) by popularity. That should give you a better idea of how many people choose each item.
