Looking at that article, a few line stand out to me.
Parsons also said creating and releasing a PC version of Bungie's shared world shooter would not be as easy as many believe, because all versions of the game connect to the same persistent video game world, which itself extends to multiple platforms.
"It is not nearly as simple as you think," he said. "It is one central world no matter what the platform, and so that requires lots of intensive thought.
To me, at least, this sounds like cross platform play. Am I reading this wrong? A response from a bungie employee would be useful.

Edited by Tibbaryllis2: 6/19/2014 1:56:22 AMI took this to mean there are centralized servers controlling every aspect of the persistent world across all consoles. To me this means things like day night cycles, weather, enemy activity, unique events, etc will be constant and consistent across the platforms, but they won't necessarily be able to play together. I.e. The Bungie Skynet tells everyone it is sunset in game and all active versions of that game enter into sunset at the same time. However this is also how they will transfer characters from past to current gen, so we at least know Xbox 360/one and PS3/4 can exist on the same servers.
