HandCannons have to move to Secondary.

Okay we've played the Destiny alpha and the Hand Cannons are fun. The problem is for a lot of us is we've been conditioned to halo gameplay. Pop the shields and finish with the Pistol. Repeat...repeat...repeat. That's one reason. And to be honest it's probably the main reason for the Hand Cannon frustration. The second reason is It doesn't feel like a primary when the rifles are extremely effective in that slot. It's natural to run out of ammo in the heat of the battle and out comes the secondary to save the day. Problem is the Secondary ammo is sometimes harder to find. Okay so how that works is currently with the Hand Cannon in its primary role you have about 50 ammo. An Auto Rifle can carry up to 360 to 600 depending on the beast you find. You'll burn through your Handcannon ammo fast... And you can't easily switch over to the other Primary guns. Out comes the secondary. What NO AMMO ???!!!.... Holy, I need to get out of here and get to my options menu. The secondary slot is the savior slot. Shotguns and sniper rifles.Tools meant to get up close or perform far away dirty work. Only given the nature of the bullet sponges blocking your way and what they drop it can get pretty tight on what you can accomplish. The HandCannon feels like it could be that middle man ready to do both jobs in distance and Up close engagements. It feels like a specialty item. Especially when you find a green variant with an option tree. I wanted use them during the Alpha, but the scout rifles and Autos are just better suited for their roles as the main work horse. Ultimately I never used them save to level one up by farming a position just to test it out and see what it's perk tree offered. I know I would have pulled that over the Shotgun if it had been in the secondary slot. Anyways just an observation. I noticed on the forums many share the same opinion. Please consider moving them over for the Beta to see if there is change in their usage.

  • The Handcannon should remain as a primary weapon. It has one thing that the auto-rifle, pulse-rifle and scout-rifle don't have. Stopping power. I think it was labelled as Impact in the alpha. I believe that is the main reason that this weapon stands out more than others and why it should stay as a primary weapon. For a gun to stop an enemy in its tracks, buys you some time while you line up for that headshot, toss that grenade or ever give you enough time to regroup and strategize what your next move will be. The rifles' advantage over the handcannon is it range, ammo capacity and rate of fire but the handcannon more than makes up for that with its high damage, impact and how deadly accurate it is. The only time where I ran out of ammo using the handcannon was fighting the Devil Walker on Devil's Lair. But that was only for a short while until more Fallen spawned. And I'm sure thats why they spawned because that damned Devil Walker takes a helluva lotta rounds. Six bloody legs to take out!!! Focus fire is a must when fighting this! Overall, I'm pleased with the handcannon the way it is. Its reminiscent of the Halo CE pistol but with out the scope. That was my primary and the assault rifle was my secondary. I would very much like to keep the handcannon as my primary in Destiny.
