You could go for a CLC, although they are kinda pricy. Just stick a fat Noctua heatsink on your CPU and get similar performance.

how many fans are enough fans?

On the heatsink, I'd say two. As most motherboards have two CPU fan headers, and you can put them in a push-pull configuration.

well, i meant the case. the NH-D14 has two fans.... it should work if it doesn't fracture the mobo with it's over 2 pound weight on the chip. i've decided on the Obsidian 550D after much thought.
