Why Religious or Political Threads of An Antagonistic or Hateful Nature Should Be Prohibited

Recently, I created a thread in which I stated that I am of the opinion that religious discussion should be banned. Many were opposed to my suggestion, and Achronos himself said:
... is a thread about evolution a religious discussion? To some people, it is. How about climate change/global warming? Politics? Or just science? How about vaccines? July 4th/Memorial Day/Christmas related threads? Where does it end?
I do not necessarily disagree, therefore I have revised my thesis. Religious and political discussion of a clearly hateful, or antagonistic nature should be prohibited on this forum. I have revised it, as people stated their concern that actual, civil discussion on the subject would be banned. By revising my statement, I believe I have developed an excellent compromise on the issue. Now, what is "hateful or antagonistic discussion" and why should it be banned? Let's look at a few threads relating to religion. Mind you, these are only threads with the tags #religion, #Christianity, #Islam, and so on, so topics relating to religion, or politics with only the tag #Offtopic are not included. Here's a few examples of threads, that I believe, are of an "antagonistic or hateful nature":
Yet ANOTHER Muslim Honor Killing
This thread in particular had the tag #religionofpeace... I wonder if it's implying something?
What Religion Would You Erase From Existence?
This one speaks for itself.
LOL at Christianity
Again, speaks for itself. So, I've established what I believe "antagonistic" to be. Now why should such discussions be banned? Well, for starters, the Code of Conduct condemns "Disrespect based on race, creed, gender, orientation, or disability." as "Stuff That Sucks". I'd say the previously mentioned threads were pretty disrespectful. Furthermore, most of these "discussions" of an antagonistic nature aren't discussions, just one perspective looking in the mirror and affirming itself while insulting the other perspective. You've all seen it, and I don't need to explain any further. If you need clarification, just look at some threads relating to religion. As to the solution, why resort to prohibition? Why not just mute such topics? Well, while that solves the issue on an individual level, it does little to help prevent such things from occurring, and is a poor solution in regards to the community as a whole. Yes, I can mute the user or the topic, but we all know how abundant alt accounts are, and that's only assuming that only a few, select users are creating such threads. Add up all those people? That's a lot of users, and I'd rather not mute them at all. Instead, we should seek to solve the issue on a larger scale. We should try to solve the community's problems, not simply ignore them and tell others to do so as well. Essentially, we should try and make Bungie.net and #Offtopic better, instead of letting it get worse. Now, I want to restate that I'm not saying all discussion of a religious or political nature should be banned. Instead, those rare productive discussion would be retained, and those "b8" threads would be gone. In addition, I want to make it clear that I don't intend to attack any users who have made similar threads to the ones listed or those who disagree with me. Furthermore, I don't mean the Ninjas of Bungie.net any disrespect. I don't mean to imply that they're not doing their job, I just wanted to propose a solution to what I see as a problem in this community. So, I implore #Offtopic and the Ninjas to consider my suggestion, and help make Bungie.net a better place for all of us.

I like being able to discuss that stuff here. And I like that Bungie was very kind to allow it on their site. I don't like closing my eyes and plugging my ears because someone out there is different. If they hate a group I consider them foolish, and of no harm to me.
