2014 Z/28 Dyno test

Ok, most of you know my intense dislike of all things bowtie, but this thing earns so respect points.
455/420
Respectable numbers, BUT it's still a big block (which is cheating!!!) I'll just be waiting to see what SVT has in store to combat this thing.

  • Impressive. The z28 is the only new Camaro that interest me. $75k is still a lot though.

      • The LS7 is a small block 427. I think it literally uses the same block as the LS1, but with obviously a bigger bore. 455 is putting better numbers to the ground than stock Z06's, and the Camaro engineers claim it makes less power. Someone is lying here, and I think it's the Camaro engineers. I doubt Ford will aim at the Z/28, primarily because it's pretty much the parting piece of the 5th generation. GM has finally cut the ties off of the Camaro engineers and are letting them make them as good as they want. So I think the 6th gen v whatever gen Mustang it is now battle will be pretty epic for everyone from both sides.

        • Although with the big block comment it sparked a many feels >tfw GM hasn't offered a Corvette/Camaro with a big block V8 since the early 70's >tfw GM hasn't put a big block in any of their vehicles since the early 90's >tfw GM will never offer an all aluminum 454 big block V8 that revs to 7K and makes ridiculous amounts of torks in a Corvette or Camaro

          • it should be noted that a dyno isn't a bragging rights machine, it's a tool for benchmarking before and after modification to track gains/losses in torque/HP, not for getting numbers to advertise, there are just too many variables to control. Also the dyno setup they used made me cringe. now that being said, it's a great car, and i can only imagine it's a pleasure to drive.

            • I saw Jay Leno review the car and I am in love. Thank the good Lord above it only comes with a manual transmission. Off topic: I had the pleasure if sitting at a light yesterday and had a brand speaking new SRT Viper roll up beside me. The car is sexy as hell, and the exhaust note was absolutely breathtaking. I want that car, and I will one day have one come hell or high water.
