• You're delusional if you don't think Jon is the Prince That Was Promised.

  • Firstly, I can't imagine GRRM writing an ending that cliche. If he does, it could kill the series for me. After all, it is supposed to be fantasy deconstructionism. I think Jon will become more powerful and it is likely that he is Azor Ahai, but I don't think he will end up sitting the iron throne. It's simply too convenient. Secondly, you seem to be using "the prince that was promised" and "Azor Ahai" interchangeably. Both terms may refer to the same prophecy, but it's still possible that each is a distinct prophecy. If that is the case, it seems that Aegon Targaryen is a very likely candidate to be "the prince that was promised". In the House of the Undying Dany sees Rhaegar holding his newborn son, naming him, and saying that "he is the prince that was promised and his is the song of ice and fire". Some other stipulations (and many characters) make it seem that Dany is the Prince. For the prophecies about the Prince to be fulfilled, it seems like it would have to be either Aegon or Dany.

  • I don't see why having a morally good, main character sit on the iron throne in the end would be some terrible thing.

  • It's not terrible. It's unrealistic for the series. Did the red wedding teach you nothing?

  • The Red Wedding was a shocking twist but you shouldn't let it define the series. If it's all just going to end in despair then what's the point?

  • You should really cover stuff like this in spoiler tags. I'd hate to be a viewer of the show/someone who hasn't connected the dots in the book and for it to be spoiled like this. Even though it isn't confirmed or anything.

It's a theory. I haven't spoiled anything. That's like saying I spoiled Halo 5 because I claimed Master Chief was a direct descendent of The Forerunners or something.

  • It's a potential spoiler, and in the GoT community, it's a very well-thought out theory, to boot. It's just common courtesy to avoid potential areas of sensitivity in this regard.

No...no it's not. It's a theory mate, not a spoiler. I'm allowed to theorise without concealing anything. The only time I would spoiler tag something is if the theory pertained to actual plot points. Even noob readers/viewers know Rhaegar and Lyanna had a thing going on, and nothing of what I said is indicative of spoiling anything.

  • Yes, but if you point out that
Jon could be Lyanna's son and not Ned's
, if it actually gets confirmed, it'll be less of a surprise.

  • Then by that logic half the community that have theorised on this and are up to date on the lore would be spoiled as well. C'mon man, this is pretty tenuous logic right here.

  • It's a little personal for me, man. That's all. I remember before Halo 4 came out, someone had theorized that
Cortana would die.
Even though I didn't know it would happen, I expected it. It's the same thing.

That still technically isn't a spoiler. The person that came up with that theory didn't intentionally tell you it to ruin the plot for you. They were just tossing around possibilities that could potentially occur within the game. People do that all the time with any piece of entertainment or art. Unfortunately for you it just so happens that the person predicted accurately. I'm not quite sure if you understand what a spoiler actually is. Spoiling something would be unveiling crucial or critical information pertaining to a narrative that has already been established within the universe. Theorising what could potentially occur in the future is just that. A theory. It isn't proven or concrete, it's just hypothetical conjecture.

  • I understand what a spoiler is. But I still think you should use spoiler tags. My opinion on the matter isn't going to change.

  • Well funnily enough I use spoiler tags for spoilers, so it isn't going to happen seeing as it's not a spoiler...

  • Yeah, Rhaegar got BTFO by based Bobby B at the Trident. Still doesn't disqualify Jon as Azor Ahai.
