It's time for a little Community PSA. I'm a dedicated member of this community, and I'm seeing a lot of the people newer to this kind of thing freaking out about stuff. Let me help you. Just read what I have to say.
We've been seeing multiple threads about how people are disappointed with the current info available, or that the Beta isn't happening right now, or that you didn't get the info you wanted with this Info Drop. I'm here to tell you something…
You are all acting ridiculous.
The Problem:
One of the biggest issues that I'm seeing is that people will believe anything and everything they hear. For example, people complain that the Beta isn't starting today. It's been 8 weeks, right? Well if you had checked your sources, you'd know it's been officially confirmed for 8 weeks that the Beta was not going to happen now. It's also been known for a while that the Beta will be in the Summer. Summer doesn't start till June 21st.
Another example is the amount of disappointment in the videos and articles released today. Once again, people were going into this with their expectations set to Fanboy. The gameplay video we got today was amazing. It really was. We saw a ton of varied gameplay compared to what we saw the last time, with new powers and abilities being clearly highlighted. Yet still people complain about the fact that we didn't get much story information. Instead of appreciating everything we got, a ton of people choose to complain.
The Solution:
The biggest issues this community is dealing with right now is not a lack of info, it's that people do not check their sources for info and get over-hyped in the process. So let's go over some basics.
YouTube videos, Podcasts, News Articles, random comments claiming something is happening…
They are all completely untrustworthy. Unless they are directly quoting the words of a press release or commenting on something present in a video or picture, than you can't take their word as gospel. I see huge amounts of people filtering through here who think that the Beta was supposed to release today because someone on YouTube said so, or that it was "confirmed" by another person. Stop believing them. Stop it. Now. It's all just people speculating and over-hyped people believing them regardless of the truth.
IF SOMETHING IS NOT DIRECTLY CONFIRMED BY BUNGIE, DON'T EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN.
Lastly… Chill the -blam!- out. Seriously, you guys are scaring me.
I'm glad we had this talk #Destiny. It needed to be said. Listen, I'm a VERY dedicated member of this community. I'm just sitting here enjoying the info when it comes out and going about my life when it's not. We can all get by without the rage and disappointment if you all just chill out, check your sources, and don't believe every last thing that gets said in your general direction.
Listen, I'm not one to beg for likes or comments, but try giving this thread some so more people can see it. It needs to be seen. Until then, enjoy this mildy amusing gif of a goat. Be brave, become legend, chill out and have a good time.

As a frequenter of the destiny forum, I know for almost a fact that, while most if not all of these points are valid, almost no one will listen.
-
I haven't posted on Bungie.net in a while and I logged on just to say that this is a fantastic post. I agree with everything you said. People seriously need to get it together when it comes to info about Destiny.
-
What I don't understand is why does everyone think Bungie owes us something? A little entitled aren't we? Well I'm not. I loved the info bombs yesterday and I couldn't be more hyped for Destiny. I mean, what did you guys who are disappointed think yesterday was going to be? Did you expect them to send an early copy to everyone? Go through every piece of loot? Show every single inch of every planet? There has to be mystery to create demand. If they did drop their pants and show us everything, you guys would piss and moan. If they showed nothing you'd piss and moan. If they sent everyone a free hooker and a million dollars you'd piss and moan. This event yesterday has just separated the cream from the sh!t You think Bungie owes a bunch of whiney brats info on arguably their biggest project to date? You guys have a lot to learn about life then if that's how you feel.

Summers already been and gone for me. It's autumn now. But im just glad tjis vid has come. As long as destiny doesent gets delayed for years like some games. Amd bungie is making the same game for 4 different consoles. So come on bungie. Bring it home.

I dunno, man. Jumping wildly to conclusions and treating word on the street as facts saved the lives of me and my platoon back in 'Nam.
-
Yes! The return of #SexyLonghorn! Yes, I do read those.
-
Good post man!
-
Heh, I get it. #Density is acting like kids.
-
Hey Death.
-
Very good points all around, Death. Also, "mildly amusing" was spot on. That's exactly how I would describe it. +1 for you.
-
I'm gone for two days reading articles and finding new info hidden in the interpretations of the press and I come back to this. This is why we can't have nice things, Death. BTW there is a lot more info in those articles than everyone might realize.
-
Its nice to see somebody who respects bungies intrests here. Some people just dont seem to respect bungie for not wanting to spoil the game... (Bungies not your butler)
-
Ahhh! The sound logic it burns!
-
No one likes a forum cop.
-
Thank you somebody with sense, we are not butthurt fanboys, I was completely satisfied without having the reveal spoil much of the game for me. Bungie wants it to be a suprise so just keep ur opinions held till beta launch then u can say its shit or not
-
I expected nothing and was actually pretty impressed with the new trailer, the wait for Beta and release is going to be short IMO (since I work 62+ hours a week). Enjoy all !
-
Not bad for an offtopite, fixing #density...
-
I couldn't agree more with you. Destiny is going to be an incredible game I think.
-
Thanks bro I've been trying to make his point ever since the hype fest on Sunday
-
Slightly misleading title (abit flamey )
IF SOMETHING IS NOT DIRECTLY CONFIRMED BY BUNGIE, DON'T EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN.
Even if bungie say it, it still may not happen. Bungie are not legally bound until the game is officially released. I must commend you on a very well constructed post and thank you for your effort inlightening the slightly dim heard of fanboys
-
Too bad they won't listen. Good points though.
-
Honestly, this kind of reaction is to be expected of the Bungie community. Bitching and moaning is our MO. And it's only going to get worse once the beta goes public. If you were around for Halo 3 or Reach, you already know what's about to happen. For those of you new to the community, for the few weeks the beta is active, Destiny will apparently be the worst game ever created, according to the forums. If you value your sanity and/or blood pressure, I'd suggest staying off the forums until the beta is over.

Edited by Shadow Iz Me: 4/29/2014 7:35:25 PMI'd also like to mention that no gaming company follows their exact seasonal releases. I hate to mention it, but it's the first one to come to mind. "Coming Holiday 2012!" Released November 6th.

He he he, that kid.

Agreed. However part of the problem is people are too lazy to check sources for information. Once a rumor starts it builds up quickly. Although it may be more work, it may be best if when clarifying an issue to provide a source to quell excitement. People get so hooked on a rumor that they're blinded by it and block (maybe unintentionally) and info that contradicts the rumor. On top of that everyone should take info that is passed on by hearsay with a grain of salt. It helps people keep an open mind and not be let down when what they expected to appear doesn't make an appearance.
