Well if destiny had ballistic style it would have to also calculate all these variable which would be difficult for fast firing sub machine guns or LMG's. There would also need to be a way for the player to see these variables and know how to compensate for these factors. So, ballistic would be interesting for snipers and create them more difficult while bringing more respect to skilled sniper users. But regular weapons should stay hitscan.

  • I see your point. Though it isn't an overly complex task to create a predictable Ballistic Style auto weapon. Battlefield has done it well for years. Though I feel sometimes it's a bit too much about compensating for recoil and weapon sway, and less about twitch reflex and accuracy in Battlefield. I'm honestly torn between the two styles, each has their strengths and weaknesses, thus why I made the third option, which I see is what most people want.

  • I'm not saying that it would be hard to do ballistic for auto weapons but it just seems pointless to calculate wind, gravity, weapon recoil, ect. If you are shooting an enemy that is 20 feet away.

In close range the difference between the two styles becomes less of a factor, and the characteristics if the weapon itself such as kick up (recoil) and fire rate become the main focuses to control. It's mostly at mid-long range where the two styles show their differences. Wind is overkill in my opinion, and it seems modern game developers agree. Ballistic Style normally only consists of bullet drop, projectile speed, and horizontal inconsistency of the bullet, the third one normally only bring applied when you reach near the maximum fire rate of the weapon, thus causing the bullets to become less accurate if you spam. These are the variables in place in Battlefield. Not arguing or anything, just sharing what I know with the community! :)
