A lot of people have been losing faith in the company for a while now. They've gone from saintly status to something else entirely.

The writing has been on the wall for a while. Looking back on it, when Staten left, I should have known that something was amiss. I overlooked Staten's departure at the time because it was amicable and on his own terms, but I do remember speculating about his reasons for abandoning such a major project before its release, especially since he played such a large role in creating and defining it. With the benefit of hindsight, it seems likely that Staten saw this coming. I'd be willing to bet he left due to some major internal change that he wasn't willing to accept. And so many other high-level Bungie employees have left as well. It's just now that their most well-known talent has been fired, under such bizarre circumstances, that people are finally starting to realize that something isn't right here. Bungie is changing, and it's obvious at this point that most of the old guard don't fit into the company's new direction. A Bungie without the guys who made the company what it is ain't Bungie at all. I've cancelled my pre-order for Destiny and I won't be participating in the beta. I will wait for fan reaction to the full game in September before I make a decision about whether or not to purchase it. Nothing Bungie can say at this point will change my mind about that. This goes way beyond Marty. My faith in the company simply isn't there anymore, now that so many of the people who defined Bungie are no longer working there.

  • Nicely said, and I share in your distrust and suspicion.

  • Something foul has been brewing since early 2013. I wouldn't be surprised if we got Alex Seropian's resignation shortly after the game launches.

  • Yes, like ten years ago. That's why it's funny.
