Quote from "bungie_employee" on reddit:
[quote]Okay. So I can't give out too much detail here, but I will let you know what I know. Marty was a contracted employee, he didn't just get a fee for each game he produced. Marty had received a significant raise in the last few years, but was now asking for another. This created tension between him and the board (some of whom already felt he was overpaid). A verbal argument ensued recently between Marty and a member of the board. Shortly there after he was let go. So there was certainly 'cause' but one that a lot of us felt could be worked through. But money talks. The board feels they can get someone for cheaper, and without the drama, that will have a better ROI.
So basically it seems that tensions rose to a breaking point, one the board felt they couldn't work past, or didn't want to deal with, so they let Marty go. I'm not saying it was right (I don't think it was), but that is the situation.

How could anyone overpay Marty? Are these people thinking about what they've done? They've ripped out a massive part of what made Bungie, Bungie. The next dude better be Marty's ultimate padawan, because I will find it impossible to accept anyone or anything else. Look at Niel Davidge for Halo 4. He's actually a pretty damn good composer, but in my honest opinion, he didn't even come close to Marty's magic.

Thank you!

Seeing as how Marty's been there for so long, this shoulda been something they could've negotiated out of.

link!

I feel whatever amount Marty was asking for was totally worth it and justified. He's a damn talented composer.
-
If that's the case, then we as fans and customers need to do something to show we want him back or we're not getting the game. Something on the scale of what those guys did for mass effect 3
-
Either way, Bungie let go of, arguably, one of the greatest video game composers around. They'd need to find someone solid to replace Marty, because the fans are in a frenzy now.
-
One does not simply "replace" Marty Whoever it is won't be good enough. They could be a 2x better composer than him and it wouldn't matter, because he is more than a composer.
-
Seems plausible enough, but then again...

He's talking to the mods to verify his identity. If he is legit, they'll give him a tag or post that he's verified. http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/235t01/marty_odonnell_fired_by_bungie/cgtrzem

Another money murder. Such a shame to lose someone over an argument about money.
