Microsoft doesn't have to many first party developers so it would make sense for a them to buy them and they have already put a lot of money into making TF exclusive.
-
I heard they already tried. Respawn is not interested. Who knows.
-
I chose maybe. I agree with most that it would be more like epic with gears. Now I prefer Xbox but I'll be honest in saying they need to step up the console exclusives and this would be a good start. I think it might even be worth it to take a loss in buying the exclusivity rights. One of the best games I've played in a while.
-
No, Titanfall isn't going to be a system seller like Gears or Halo. I'm not saying I like or hate it. Just from what I've played, I can't see it being a game that moves consoles plain and simple.
-
Respawn is already backed by EA, so I doubt it...
-
They'd probably enter a deal like Bungie has with Activision; they retain their independence and IPs, but Microsoft would get publishing rights for all their games
-
Edited by Obsric: 2/19/2014 1:19:16 AMVery unlikely. Phil Spencer has stated that Microsoft is interested in investing in new IPs, rather than buying out studios. Microsoft is more likely to do a deal with EA / Respawn to keep the TitanFall franchise as an exclusive in the future, regardless of the preferences Vince indicated on twitter.
-
After the whole fiasco with Activison I doubt the team wants to be under the boot of another big publisher. They already had the lifetime exclusivity deal happen behind their back.
-
I doubt Respawn wants to be bought by anyone after what happened with Activision.
-
After the mess that CoD turned out to be I don't think Respawn wants to tie themselves into another game franchise for a while. Maybe in the future once EA gets their claws in to deep.
-
I doubt it considering Vince Zampella had a lawsuit with Activision back in 2010 when he was still at Infinity Ward.
-
I could see Titanfall being bought, but no the entire dev.
-
Edited by Vgnut: 2/18/2014 6:01:57 AMThey could buy Respawn and with it the TitanFall IP. That said the whole idea behind forming Respawn was to break away from being owned by a big domineering publisher. I don't see those guys giving up independence to any publisher.
-
I always figured they would. Why not? Unless Titanfall utterly plummets
-
Edited by Lil_Peace_Doe: 2/18/2014 12:57:55 AMEA already owns them, and wants to beat Activisions COD.. So I'd say no
-
I wouldn't be shocked.
-
I don't see EA letting them go.
-
Edited by Ukimoi: 2/18/2014 12:53:08 AMInb4 the fanboys but seriously Microsoft might buy them so they have a dude bro shooter as an exclusive.
-
Edited by The Squatchmen: 2/18/2014 4:32:38 AMThey might buy the rights to the IP, but won't buy the studio. But all in all, I don't give more than two sh*ts, because I'm not buying the games
-
Respawn? No. The Titanfall IP? I could see it happening.
-
"Bump"
-
They'll probably do an Epic
-
I doubt Vince Zampella will want to be tied down like he was at Activision.
-
Respawn pretty much said they have intentions of building the next one for the PS4.
