The Elder Scrolls Online

Don't want game

Awaitng f2p

Gonna preface this post by saying I've been stuck in a motel due to snow for a couple days (on top of a lot of driving) so this could just be the cabin fever talking :P Anyways ESO: I think I've possibly maybe have kinda definitely sorta changed my mind and am gonna give it a try. Pretty much a complete 180 for me. Not sure why I've changed my mind. Maybe I hit my head on something recently? Just suddenly thought today "I want to play this game". Don't get me wrong I get that its a blatant cash grab. $60 + $15/month + ingame cash shop + imperial edition Makes it pretty obvious that Zenimax wants all your moneys. I've just been thinking that the main thing that had been turning me off was the pay model, and I'd stopped really considering the actual game. The more gameplay I watch the more I want to play it. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that if its something I'd really enjoy (which is most elder scrolls games), and I can get years of gaming out of it, then $15 a month doesn't seem like that much. Especially if its going towards free dlc / growing the game. Besides I kinda find that preferable to f2p (though still like b2p better). Game launches in April for PC/Mac then in June for consoles. Figure I'll let the PC mustard rice beta test for me and if I hear decent enough things about the finished product I'll give it a run on PS4. Anybody else reconsidering, or have I gone insane?

  • I've put a lot of time into the game over the past few betas and I absolutely love it. I can't wait until they drop the NDA so I can make a real post about the game for everyone including some of the screenshots and video I have.

  • I really want to play ESO but spending $100 for the limited edition and then paying $180 a year that's outrageous. ( Was going to play it on Xbox One )

  • I didn't get as much play time as I wanted with the Betas due to work commitments but overall I am impressed. Due to NDA blah blah blah I won't go into detail, however anyone who says this is just a re skinned WoW obviously has never partook in any of the betas. It runs better, it's open world, it's much more in depth/immersive and it looks absolutely fantastic. I played WoW, WAR, Aion, TSW, RF Online, LOTRO, FFO, DDO and SWTOR. By all means tell me how this game is like them other than the fact that it's an MMO with crafting and you have item slots... $15/month is dirt. If you can't afford $15/month then how do you afford your internet? I guarantee you clowns who say it's too expensive spend more money clogging your already heavily loaded arteries with grease from fast food joints in a week! Don't be quick to judge because some WoW nerd can't create a blood elf paladin/death knight and tells you the game is ten shades of bad. Try it for yourself.

  • I'll look at gameplay, read reviews, and research the lore (in hopes they fixed most of the issues) and if I like it then I will wait for F2P.

  • I had fun when I played it and I really want to get it, but the price is a little high for me so I'm gonna wait for it to go F2P.

If anything the Beta has just shown that it's going to be what I expected. A backwards leap for TES and not something I want to bleed my wallet dry over.

      • Already pre-ordered the Imperial Edition for my wife and I. Both of us tested in several Betas for ESO. Personally, I have never had an issue with paying for what I enjoy. The new concept of f2p is a drain on people that DO pay for the services rendered. I pay $150/mo for electricity, $950/mo for rent, $350/mo for tv channel and internet, etc... So, people make an issue of paying $15-20/mo for a game they enjoy? That makes no sense. Does anyone think that the people involved create material, patches, run servers, etc for FREE??? No, talent needs to be paid, work needs to be done. Tell you what, next payday anyone who has an issue with paying for a game should tell their boss, "No thanks, boss. My services are free. See you tomorrow." Not Gonna Happen.

        • It looks pretty cool and I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan, so I'm giving it a shot. If it's good, I'll keep paying. If it's not, then I wont.
